If you use number drills to punch the holes, you should come very close to an exact fit also a pivot collar where the electrodes are connected to your power source will work.

No Difference, Leonard, associated with RHD, that I know of, but I might be a little concerned about the reverse coreolis effect on airflow around the wheels/tires in your hemisphere. What do you think?

Thanks for the pointer on the air seal. What I was thinking was to use split blocks to mount the coils in as they come through the oven inside wall and they would be drilled and reamed to the exact size as you suggest. I think I have some reamers in thousandths at and below 1/4 inch which I think is the coil size. If not, when I measure them I can order chucking reamers to the size needed.

I think that you might be right about the close fit being tight enough. I think it will have to be since I can't think of any substance that could be used for an air tight seal that will withstand the heat.

Now, I just had a better idea. I think I will use the split blocks, but drill the holes just close and then wrap the coils with copper foil in an amount sufficient to give a very snug fit. I think that will be a better seal and will be easier to deal with. Thanks again .

Just heard back from Porsche today and they have opened a technical query on the issue. They have the photographs and my correspondance.
Will it come to anything, who knows.

What issue? The incorrect PN for the GTS liners or the fact they are too narrow?, Or?

Dan,
In the case of the liners I have supplied the LH is the correct GTS part number but too short at the fender lip as per the pictures above. The RH seems to fit OK and is the correct number.

I tried to find a part number for the late 90 and 91 full rear liners but could not. I am sure I saw them somewhere.

Len,
RHD & LHD are the same part numbers so no issue there.

Bern,
Thanks I see it now - cold not see the wood for the trees 8>)
Do we know if they were just liners or did they have the added foam like the GTS liner.
The 03's are $100 cheaper than the 04's.
I think they do not have any but I will check in the morning.
We would have both S4/GT and GTS to use as examples.

Just to recap - the issue is with the LH liner. The RH seems fine and fits well. If it was not circa $500 all would be well on the RH liner.

I checked my original RH side line on my GTS and it fits into the fender lip fine.

Jerry what is your target price?

Roger, it's a little too soon to tell since I don't even know how much the material will be. I'm guessing the material will be about $50 per sheet and one set out of one sheet. Then I only have the forms and the process put together in my mind, so I can't tell how close I am with that until I get to blow some plastic into the forms when they are made.

A real wild guess is about $300 per wheel well. That's if it works at all.

I just checked this morning and Porsche has restocked the earlier style liner as well.
928 504 303 03 & 928 504 304 03 are in stock in Germany. They have 78 of each of them.
My price for comparison is $400 v $550 for the GTS 303 04 & 304 04.
A significant differenece even if they are still way high on price.

Can any of the 91 owners confirm that the liners 303 03 & 304 03 have no foam on top of them? Do they follow the contour of the inner fender or is there a gap between the top of the liner and the fender?

I don't know about the part # but mine (1991 S4) have foam on top and they don't fit well (1" gap on top).

Bertrand,
Apart from the top do they fit flush with the fender lip?
Thanks for the input.

Quick question.. can the earlier or GTS liners be installed on the 1987 928S4? does it need any changes or drilling into the body or is it a straight plug and play?

Roger,
The gap is about 1" at the top (almost 2" on the left side) and down to an "almost" perfect fit on both side (front and rear - left and right).

Have a nice week-end.
Leaving until sunday...
