Thanks, Tails. I finished the rear hatch latch receiver liner project and sold about 40 or so of them before the other vendors came up with injected molded versions of something much like the factory ones and which are somehwhat cheaper that I can justify making mine for. I have considered my project on the liner pretty much at an end except for the occasional opportunity to send one for free when it seems to be needed and somehow justified. I never got any negative feedback about my liner/inserts from anyone who put one into service.

By the way, I feel some kinship to the airplane in your avatar. I have two airplanes and one of them is made by Ryan and is also polished aluminum like yours. The other one is not a Ryan except it is registered as one. One is a Ryan NavionB and the other is a NavionA which was actually a military L-17C made by North American but which mistakenly came out of the service registered as a Ryan.

Jerry, so does this mean that you're done producing the liners? I'm in need of one for my GTS.

Hi Rich. I hope there is not some confusion about the subject of your inquiry. I see by reviewing this thread that you have expressed a great interest in the wheel well liners. However, this last exchange you see here is about the little other project I had about the rear hatch latch receiver liner. Liner, liner, liner, whose got the liner, I guess.

You did say you needed one, so I suspect that is about the latch liner. If so PM me your address and I will take care of you forthwith.

Perhaps I'm confused - wrong thread??

I need the rear left wheel liner (that covers the PSD unit).

Right thread, Rich, it just kind of got sidetracked about another of my projects that I had mentioned early in this one as part of the reason it has been taking me so long to get this one developed.

See my earlier post today about the progress on the wheel well liners. What you are going to get, and maybe not too long from now, if the project works at all, is a set of liners for both sides of your GTS. I don't think I am going to sell you just one for the left side since they are going to be made in pairs.

Give out best to Beth.

Oh, no doubt that both fender liners are needed, but the left side is by far the worst.

Her slipt started to show when Hemmings was doing the photo shoot and I had to tuck the liner back up in place.

I knew at that point it was really time for a replacement!!

Rich, I think about you often in the context of this project because I remember that you have a good friend with one or more 928s im Montrose, CO. Is he still there, and does he have a GTS? I met him once briefly at Al Johnson's here in GJT, but have not become very well acquainted with him. I'm wondering if he has a GTS if I might get him to bring it up here so I can do some fitting and mounting design work of these liners when and if I get them developed. What do you think?

Jerry, good luck on the liner project and thank-you for your continued support on the 928.

Hello Jerry,

I communicate with Bill quite often, he is a great guy. Bill is in the construction trade and is all over SW Colorado with jobs, especially in Telluride. Bill often is up your way to get supplies and BS with the Porsche crowd at Al's shop in GJT. He has 1985 and 1987 928s, no GTS though. As I recall, you have no shortage of older 928s in your corral.

Hi Rich.

I hope you are keeping up on this project in the other thread I have been contributing to about progress on the wheel well liners. Today I got some more material to use for the second form for the outside halves of these liners. I am still working on the refinement of the blowing for the inner halves, but I think the form is going to work just fine the way it is now. The refinement will be more in the temperature and distribution of heat rather that the shape of the form.

I have left the last version of this liner that I blew in one of my S4 cars; and it is really pleasing to me how well I think it is going to work. While it is sitting there I have been envisioning how to mount it. I have pretty well figured out what I think the mounting is going to amount to for these; and that may even be for the GTS liners which have the top two points that the earlier cars don't have. (I wonder if the GT car have them???)

Anyway, I may end up using none of the top mounting points and that will make this more likely to get to market sooner, especially for the GTS guys.

I will be out of service for a few days or more starting early tomorrow, but will try to get back to this very soon. I wont be devoting production time to another project in the meantime, as previously promised. I can't keep my brain from thinking about several of them at the same time, though.

Hello Jerry,

Glad to hear you are making progress. I need the liners badly, so keep up the good work.

By the time these liners come out, we'll all be driving hybrids.

Speaking of which, I need liners for my GTS ... some I can install in the next 10 years. Has anyone put S4 or other liners in their GTS?

Bite your tongue!

I wonder just about long the Porsche company worked on the design and development of the 928 and how many people they had working full time on it.

Give me a break.

On the other hand, just what have you designed and created/fabricated for the benefit of the 928 community or the cars? Full time or even in your spare time?
