Default Blast from the past: Pics of 1999 Speedvision race @ Laguna Seca

A few days ago, I found some rolls of undeveloped film so I took them to be processed. On one roll were a few pics of Mark Anderson running in the 1999 Speedvision World Challenge race. This was even before I owned a 928. The images aren't the greatest as time has taken its toll on the film and because these were taken w/ a crappy point-n-shoot camera. However, you can see just how stock-looking Mark's ride was back then.

yep, i was there. i waited two years too late to break out the Holbert car. Would that have been cool to have 2 928s in that race! 1:40.1 took 10th!
All that hardware, and marks car was still well over 10 years old.
The following year, the cup cars made their debut, and the series went out of control with the $$$$$

Great shots, thanks for posting!

Thanks for sharing, Dennis. Nice pics, especially considering the age of the film. I'm curious, how did you digitize them? I have a ton of old negs/slides that I want to digitize and have just about decided to dupe them with a DSLR & bellows, considering the cost of a scanner or scanning service.

Dave - I just had them develop the photos directly to image files on a CD. Didn't even bother w/ prints. The whole thing was trip down memory lane to the bad old days when you had drive to the store, drive home, wait, drive to the store again & pay ridiculous money to have film developed. I remembered why I had all these undeveloped rolls of film. A USB dongle into a laptop is so much easier.

I was there. I remember always good comments on Mark and the 928 from SPEED commentators. I was in an early 911 in those days.

Dennis: You didn't have a 928 but you seemed transfixed on Mark's. Were you already nuts about 928s for some reason? I wasn't until I drove mine home after I bought it on eBay in October 99. Just past my 10 year anniversary of wedded bliss 10 days ago (tears of joy).

I think this race was Oct 99 too. By that time I was already searching the worldwide internets for a 928GT. In '87 I saw a Porsche pull-out ad in Road & Track for a 928S4 and that was it. Had to have one. The only other car I was interested in was a BMW M6, but by '99 the interior & exterior design seemed pretty dated.
