Should Porsche come out with a "new" 928?

there at it again. I like the design on the earlier pages of this thread as the best proposal out there.
But talk of a new 928 called the 929 would be cool, design below is just to take up space for the article.
Today from autocar; (copy if you want this pic in the future)

I like the 928 design shown in autocar, it looks much more unique & aggressive, they should upgrade the 928 we all like but make it a little larger & more powerful, but they will never do it. The bean counters will prevail & they will mix & match parts from the current line, the Panamera is one ugly car! Who wants imitations of the Astons & Ferrari's? I vote the looks of the autocar design if they are starting with a clean sheet, the other one shown looks like all the rest! If porsche is serious about another car it would have to start in the $150K price range, better yet $125k, if the latter they would sell quite a few! Why try to join the price level of the competition, they are all overpriced! Offer a real value & sell a good number, if I were CEO of porsche that is what I would do!

Key now is how new models fit within the corporate strategy. The parent company will have to decide if something Porsche wants to make conflicts in the market with a product from Audi or whoever.
With VW's huge ambitions for volume, it is far more likely that Porsche will slap their name on a warmed-over shared platform and try to contribute more sales vs. making something special and interesting for a small market niche.

I would like to see a new 928 but if it changed to much it would not be afordable and that should be a key factor.
I like our cars the way they are and if any of the key looks changed then it would not be a 928.
Modernize the engine, keep it a 5L but at 550 HP
Keep the look of the head lights or at least keep the large look and not that 2 dots on the hood look.
Slam the top if they want but keep the basic shape
To hell with fuel mileage, kick the vettes *** and sticker price and then you will sell them
thats my 4 cents

Brad,
Do you remember when 928's were NEW??? They were NOT affordable. Not by mere mortals like most of us anyway. They cost as much as a decent house! Any NEW 928 would need to make at least 600HP (so would probably need a 6.0L or more) and would likely cost in excess of $220k! Then 10 years after the first model year most of us here could *maybe* start to think about the day when we could afford our own "NEW" 928!

This is why I said that if they can keep it in the same range as a vette then it would be a hands down winner for sure.
If they can make 550 with a 6 cylinder then they can do it with a 5L. IMHO

I disagree because you can go by a vette for a 100g and have a car that will keep up to all most anything out there for 200g less.

You can disagree all you want, but you are just picking a fight with Porsche not me. When the car was being made it was NOT the 928 that competed with a Vette in price, it was the 944 and 968 and they cost just slightly more than HALF what a 928 cost. SOOOO, if you follow the history of the 928 you KNOW Porsche would introduce it as a follow on and as the range topping model (other than special edition 911's) and that it would indeed cost $200k+ and the competition would be the 599 and Aventador, etc, NOT a Vette or a Nissan GTR!
If they priced it and made it perform like either the Vette (ZR1 in particular) and GTR and was priced to compete with them they would be hard pressed to sell another 911 and we have already been down that road and Porsche WILL NOT replace the 911... Therefore the car would HAVE to be more expensive (nearly 2X) and perform slightly better and on par with the Turbo.

i think the Panamera has a lot of 928 dna.
keep some shark lines including the wide 928 track,
lose about 300 pounds w/ more carbon and aluminum and like 500 hp, would be insane.
