Try the center switch assembly out of a SAAB 9000, they are just in a horrible place for any one who, drinks, smokes or gets in one or does any thing other than drve.

My personal favorite of stupid switches is the ignition switch on a SAAB 900 with a manual trans when some idiot forces the key out when the transmission is not in reverse.

Yep, that one is a few hours of standing on ones head.

"So each switch needs a separate power source to illuminate it?"

Each set of switch covers has an individual light source but all fed from one very small (15mm x 15mm) transformer/converter.

Still working out all the details and thanks for all the advance orders.

Looking at amber lighting, rear hatch switch, complete plug and play with new switches maybe.

Sounds like a transformer similar to what is used on the EL strips we did our door sill lighting with.

Randy,

It's probably a current driver circuit for LEDs. Should be tiny. Maybe Roger will post a photo.

Roger,

Those look great and should also be more durable than the original painted switches.

Is it possible to purchase just the switch rockers, less LED circuits? I was thinking those could be painted on the backside with glow-in-the-dark paint, however any backlighting could also act to re-energize the glow paint.

Borland,
I do not see why not and will confirm.
Got to go the Disny World this weekend for a convention and will catch up early next week with some pics.

For those who have swapped out or re-wired the rear wiper switch for the 944/968 hatch switch.

The 944/968 switch I have has 3 wires, red, white, and blue. The 928 pull switch has 2 wires on my '88, red and yellow. Which wire hooks to what?

Thanks

Mike,

Just put an ohm meter on two of the wires from the 944/968 switch and depress it. IF the resistance doesn't go to zero, change to two different ones. When you get two that give zero ohms when the rocker is depressed and infinite ohms when it is not, you've got the two leads you want to connect to the two wires going to the original pull switch by the door.

Did I get it right, these are only new covers for existing switch frame? If my switches are worn (yes they are) I still need to buy new basic switches and also these?

Correct they are just the covers. Plus the lighting and wiring and transformer.
I have a set in my car but its been to dam cold to complete the installation.
We already have the extra trunk pull cover for the rear wiper.

I have been modifying the lighting strips to make for a more "plug and play" installation.
Also adding sheathing for the multiple wires to clean up the install.

Sorry about the delay on the "trial Installation"of the switches.
I am just way to busy to complete the work and Sean is up to his neck in 928's.

I will be asking a couple of customers to complete the trial fit on a free set.

I'm taking my '82 to Sean on 2/5 for some work. We'll be needing quite a few of your parts so you can count me in on the trial if it's not too late.

Roger,

Is the light source a strip, or an LED or incandescent bulb? I'm curious because I would like to have red lighting in the switches and curious if the light source is swappable

Thanks,
-Mark
