Default Black Widow back on track!! (for a little bit)

Well....after 6 long months I finally got the Black Widow version 2.0 back on track.....one small issue with the battery ground getting loose killing everything..but ran pretty good....engine has power and sounds great.....did not burn any oil at all and NO oil in the breather-catch can at all either....

The new clutch was very stiff and the tranny was extremely balky for some reason...so I did most laps in 4th gear only....but still managed some decent times and the engine pulls cleanly even at 2500rpm in the slow corners....

Still managed to take my dad around for a couple sessions and he got a kick out of that!

Then the BAD NEWS..................had a nice session going (4th of the day) pacing a supercharged NSX when I hit the rumbles pretty good at turn 11...then something broke or got loose in the clutch or TT....horrible noise after that...that kept getting worse as I headed back to the pits....ended up being really loud and vibrating badly...which seemed to be right at the TT ahead of the shifter?

I'll post a video showing the before-after something broke so you guys can say what you think it is?

Also a really sweet LS7 650hp 928 showed up....very custom install....nice ride....

heres the pics

the chevy powered 928 looks good and it would be even faster if he got the intake from in front of the radiator, sucking in 180 degree air isnt good for making power.
Sorry about your car beaking i hope its an easy fix

Looking good!!

Possibly could be input shaft bearing...? though you say it sounds further forward...
I destroyed an input shaft bearing in simlar fashion, by hitting an inside ripple strip rather hard, a couple of years ago at the 'ring'.

Best of luck, I hope you find it's a simple fix.

Check your axles and trq tube. IMO Definitely not the motor from what I heard when you brought her in ..

Sounds great!

Brian: We had so many people working on the clutch on Thursday, I wonder if some of the bolts were not torqued enough. The front TT clamp would be a suspect. Also, although I THOUGHT we did the throwout bearing assembly correctly, checking against the WSM and Rob's guide, the circlip went in a bit too easily and I wondered about that too.

I also was wondering about this......it could explain the bizarre shifting too....hopefully nothing is broken too bad....

On the positive side, the car seemed to be running great.

true....it had POWER especially considering the super rich AFR's....look at how the wideband gets richer and richer down the main straight....I was getting 6000 rpm or so at the end of the straight... so staying in 4th gear its just like a dyno run over and over....

Kinda odd that it was REALLY lean at idle....16-17 afr's when I could get the meter to read right...but at least the dial on the outside always seemed accurate...the center gauge was possesed...it did all kinds of weird stuff....I'd guess reading an owners manual would help

on the last run when it was hottest (85f)....the idle oil pressure was a bit lower than I would like at 2 bar...but always climbs with RPM....I was getting IR oil temps at the cooler of about 205F and the water got to just below the 2nd white line or about 195F....but the oil is literally spotless....so clean it looks like it was just poured in after 4 run sessions.....

Congrats on getting the Widow back on the track. Sorry to hear about the trouble. I enjoyed watching the video - looked great! I've nevery heard a sound like you experienced near the end of the video - I hope it's not too serious and you get it back on the track without an ordeal. I'm interested in what you find to be the problem.

Might have sounded different when you went through the corners entering the pits, so maybe axle related?

I heard that too.....but I FELT the noise in the TT forward of the shifter.....I can reach down to the TT through the shifter hole and touch the TT....but it wasn't rattling that bad??

I should have answers monday

Ok, good luck, vibrations from axles would probably come through TT, no?

Thanks for the video Brian. I've never run T-Hill the "wrong" way so it was very instructive. Lot's of blind spots.
I hope the sonic rattle turns out to be a low dollar fix.
Keep us posted.

Sounds like you had some fun. Sorry you had some additional problems. hope it isnt that bad.

You run the 02 sensor, so runing 16:1 idle is normal. If you are not, still normal to be tuned that way.
