Welcome, Larry

Sorry I could not join you that weekend at Thunder Hill. Maybe we can do a lunch in the next couple of weeks?

Hi Larry welcome to the board, I think you have a cool car, and I hope that your development gets the car dialed in quickly.
Yes the air intake will be drawing in hot air and I was wondering if you have seen the other posts about the unique air intake that uses both flow through ducts on the shroud and has filters placed in the center of and in front of the radiator,it could be just what your looking for with a few mods it should fit

So, Brian, have you seen the scatch on the bellhousing? Where is it?

Has anyone started the car up while on the rack to get a better idea of the source?

I'm going up to Folsom on Saturday. Want me to stop by the shop and have a look with you?

Hello Tim - I'll give you a call before I migrate back to Phoenix.

Hello Brian - Thanks for the offer of help. Unfortunately, I'll be spending the winter in Phoenix, but should have the suspension mods in place within the next 4 weeks. No time to get to the track before leaving. We're flairing the fenders to accept 335 by 18s on 12s at all 4 corners. The front springs (new 600#) are being changed to 1000#. We're leaving the rear 400# for now. Can't switch between the front and rear as they are 10" vs 12". Went with Motorsports' front shock tops in order to drop the car and then machined in spherical bearings. As the headlights have been removed, we plan to get some air flow through the empty holes and the rest from the splitter and naca ducts if we can find the right place to put them. Seems like everything is inter-related, so we can't really say what the next generation will look like.

Hello Stan Shaw-
We talked about your shock/spring set-up some months ago, when I was trying to make some suspension decisions. You kindly sent some pictures of your set-up and some pics of other set-ups. I've spent a lot of time on 928Racing.net, soaking in all of the various approaches to those things common to my car. It's been a big help.
Thanks again.

Also, someone commented on the roll cage. It's kind of a NASCAR style and is made from 1.75" x .120" DOM to SCCA specs. I'd be curious to know what the poster saw that gave the impression is wasn't very good.

As a side note, I haven't yet found a name for the GT. Maybe someone can come up with something catchy.

Plenty of track time in PHX - With NASA (PIR and FIR) and with ASA/Pro Auto Sports (FIR) - Bring it with - run it in some of the best weather like NV. Have some fun!

I do think 100# springs in the front is a good idea given the weight of the car...I think some of the lighter race 928's run between 750-850....and up to 550 in the rear....but typically around 400-450....it just depends on how you want the car to handle....

Your cage is built from the same DOM that mine is, minus the door bars, since you still have REAL doors I'm sure you can pass tech....

ok guys the results are in and its bad..... here is the scratch on the housing, i believe it was from the ignition triggers on this PP, they must have bent slightly during installation. they had a bit of contact but now arent hiting, unfortuantely that is not the problem, it seems the new steel windage tray installed in the pan came loose and was battered to sh*t by the crank. the evidence in the oil shows it all. but it apperears the filter did its job, hopefully it did not injur bearings, the oil pressure was still 5+ bar. i made a short video of the noise but my camera didnt format it right and i cant upload it.

scar near the starter bump

and the filter contents, all the goldish particles are magnetic like the anodized steel tray

all the specs are steel particles

on a magnet

so tommorrow we take the bottom end apart.

My car when track ready last weight under 2700#. I have 1000# front and 500# rear and I loved it, felt like a go cart to me (with 18x12s as Larry is going). However it is terrible in the rain, or my skills lack more there, or both.

GREAT......I PRAY that everything got caught in the filter....but it still had to go through the pump and some of those pieces are pretty large.....WONDERFUL.....

no kidding......it sounds SO familiar......

Hopefully inside the engine isn't that bad...which I somehow doubt.... that looks like a lot of junk in the filter.....it wouldn't take much of that to get in a bearing and the whole thing is a goner....

yes folks this is my life....

ARGH! I hope the filter did it's job too, BUT there is some bypass, at least when cold, and perhaps other times as well. So, you'll need to check for debris in the heads at least. When Dennis' 2/6 went we found copper EVERYWHERE and a total teardown was needed.
