I know that car and the guy selling it - it is as described. That's Doug88S4's car, and is scary fast - he was on the fun run out here (he live's near me) see: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...h-fun-run.html for more pictures of it. (note - he posted some of the fun run pictures in the ad, with my Bleumax and my old 86.5 both shown on that run).
That car kept easy pace with 930 RUF that was in the pack. The rest of us sat back at about 120 or so
and watched those two rock at well over 145 or so.
It has great acceleration, and ran all day without issues. I have no interest in the car, just calling what I saw and know about it, and Doug is a friend. He keeps it well maintained by a local shop here. More here: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ning-lean.html

The markings indicate the block is from a GT - not sure if the heads or cams were identified as correct for the block.
Also not sure if the G28/?? question was ever answered as to whether it has GT gearbox (55) or S4 (12).
Lots of questions, and being that heavily modified (by the general buying public's standards) will have a pretty limited audience of prospective buyers - mostly people from here I'd say

Assuming its basically a supercharged manual S4 (i.e. not GT heads, cams, port-matched intake etc.), I doubt very much that he'll get the reserve whatever it is. Bidding is already higher than I'd have expected.

I spoke to Doug about the car.
It was a european delivery car with specific options, and may well be an original GT engine in my opinion. It doesn't mean much to me GT or S4. The car seems to have a 2.20 box in it based on his rpms at 80 mph. No sunroof. Missing the front spoiler and belly pan, and the ride height is so low it is hard to see in the pics. The car is a repaint also.
The car was literally found on the side of a back road (with a bullet hole in the fender) in montana and Doug bought it from the man who found it. He then got it registered with a "bonded" title which he had for 3 years (meaning the old owner could legally come back and claim the car), then the registry gave him a clear title. He says he has $40k into it, but some of it is monster stereo and murf kit and he doesn't do his own work.
A NJ rennlister was looking for a 928 and I thought this one was interesting, but maybe if it were less modified and more finished.
He wants like $17k for the car.

I think somebody is going to get a screaming deal on an excellent shape S4. This car is fully sorted, and shows as well as or better than most 928s. Doug has alot into it, and it is a fast runner. Paint looks fine, by the way, and the interior is in excellent shape. Again, I have no $$ interest in the car, but I know it pretty well, and Doug is a friend; just want to make sure it gets a good shake on this board. Doug can chime in about the sale price, but that other figure quoted above may be high now.

It's a deal for a screamer of a 928, but c'mon... with a GT engine, the S/C mods, and a Grand Canyon dash crack, it's a little too much of a FrankenShark to be called a "an excellent shape S4".

Ok,
Thanks for all the comments on my car. (good and bad) You all know the history on the car. I am not one to mislead or be dishonest. I would not be selling her if the economy wasn't in the toilet, but I need the money. James I don't understand your friends and family comment. If you are just toying with me on what is a serious matter to me then shame on you and your friends and family. If anyone would like to discuss the car give me a call 406-570-7400 If you are interested in purchasing in I would take $12000.00 for it.

Ok, forgive my stupidity, but why would a Japanese VIN have left-hand drive?
And if the car/engine were a late 88 build, I could see it going into an 88 chassis as a one-off special order. Not saying that's what it is, just that I think it could happen. I consider the 87/88 with manual, sport suspension, LSD to be the 'pre-GT, GT'. There's one south of Ft Worth that I've worked on. It's the closest thing to a GT in those years.
