BTW..my guess is someone took out the original engine..built a supercharged engine with a separate GT engine as a base and the rest of the running gear is Euro..eg. 2.64 transaxle...

Chances of that are virtually zero. Thats all I'm saying. There is easy way to solve this.

Just a thought.
Or a picture of the sticker in the rear hatch showing VIN and option codes. That sticker also shows the original engine and transaxle type (probably M2841 and G2812), plus the options.

Why do some cars (with more than base options) have what appear to be generic option stickers in the trunK? Others list extensive options.

This sticker comes from a car with nearly full leather interior, spoiler delete, LSD.

Dunno - its a little odd how some options don't seem to be displayed.

The sticker below is my '89 manual S4. Has full leather interior (dash, console, headliner, hatch cover, rear quarter panels, door panels and cards, a-pillars etc. - everything except pod) and no sunroof, but surprisingly few actual option codes.

Could be the sticker in the rear serves a purpose we haven't guessed yet, like for the production line, or some weird legal thing.

This nonsense has been going on for pages in several threads. Simple answer is all it takes. What exactly is stamped on engine and gearbox?
Hello,

For your information, my car (1989 CS) has now the engine number M28/47 81K 00106 AT but was delivered with M28/41 81K 00106 SP. I know the engine block was changed by an official Porsche dealer and I'm almost sure M28/41 blocks were non longer available, this explains the M28/47 instead of the M28/41. The AT indicates a changed engine (AT for AusTauch in German).

So I'm almost sure that this car engine was changed for a M28/47 but the original number could have been stamped at this moment.
Is there a AT in the engine number now?

By the way, a "real" (meaning, originaly fitted into a GT) GT block is an M28/47 85 K (or L or M, depending of model year).

Samuel
