Default 8' vs. 9" fronts

I have 7" on the front now and want to go bigger. These are 17" Cup II wheels.
What are the opinions of those who have run both?

Have you found 9" wheels in your budget with a working offset?

Might want to do that first. I do not know of any "budget" wheels with a 9" front & a 928 friendly offset. When I say "budget" I mean take-off OEM or reproduction.

If you plan is a custom set of Fikse's, go for the 9's.

EDIT -
I see the one option for the 19" Moda's on The Tire Rack have an 8.5" front with et54. That might work depending on the year.

You can squeeze a 255 on an 8" without issue. My A6 4.2 came from the factory that way.

Default wheel offset for front offset 50

Does any members here run 18x8 with offset 50?also running 245-40-18 without issue?for the front.

I have run upto a 8.5" rim in the front with a 45mm offset.

So a 9" rim with a 50mm offset should be fine. This will require light fender lip rolling.

245/40-18 on 18x8 ET50 wheels will suck. You will have rubbing and will need to roll the fenders. I have the above except ET57 and I sometimes get rubbing at full lock or close to it.

When you find the holy grail front 928 wheel, let me know. That would be an 18x9, ET68 - ET70, 5x130 pattern that looks good for $250 or less per wheel.

Default 18x8 et50

18x8 with et50 would that work on our 928 with 245-40-18 without rubbing issues? Its the classic sport design fact 2 piece bbs oem for porsche.

Yes I have the option to buy both 8" 17" ET 70 and 9" 17" ET 70 in the Cup II
Wondering if I should just do the 9" to run equal size all the way around but I was wanting to do 275 on the rear and that won't work on the front. Hence the poll.

I would compromise a little and get 9x17 ET70 on all four corners with 265 wide. You could then swap any around. You would probably need ~20mm spacers to make it look good in the back.

I would run equal on all four corners with that setup.

Where did you find 9" Cut II's with an et70??? What offset are the 10's?

Sorry don't want to spoil it as he has only 1 set. I'm still trying to confirm they are 100% correct on what they have. No 10" from what I know.

I am running 18x8 ET50 with 255/40R18s on the front. They stick out a little past the fenders, but only the rub under full compression of the front suspension. I've had them on the car for a year and have only heard them rub 3x. I drive the car pretty hard and the nose is about at stock ride height. Lowered would be a problem though.

265??? I was under the understanding that 245 was as big as I could go up front.

It will vary from brand to brand. I've seen up to a 1" difference between tires with the same size rating.

You can run a 265 tire on the correct offset 9" wheel. 17x9 ET70 with a 265 would work.
