Default 928 Electric at Laguna Seca

Hello Rennlisters,
My 928 Electric got a taste of Laguna Seca about a month ago and liked it
It has been several years since I melted a set of tires on a track and boy was it fun !
The event was a Speed Masters "Rrefuel" to show an alternative to ICE.

Nice. Thanks for posting.
I just looked up the weight of the Tesla: 2723 (AT). How did she (your 928) fare?

Right with the Teslas till 85mph. I only have 2-3 gears in the box. Its all I need around town.
This was the first outing for my new 115 mile range Lithium pack. I run at 160 volts with a 1200amp controller, which equates to 185hp and 325ft. pounds of torque.

So you lightened a manual tranny? Or bought a special gearbox?

Ive been in the car! its VERY cool. Its as light as my race car, but needs a few more volts and the LiPo's!! (He is using the small lead acid batteries now) If Jeff could use the Li Ion cells, the weight would drop about 300lbs or more.

I forgot the numbers, but Im sure Jeff will fill us in .

All he needs is about double the power, and half the battery weight and it would be a contender out there on the track!

Hey Mark,
Yaa, I finally got the Lithium pack on the road. The car is just over 800lbs. lighter from the version you rode in.
The narrow tires at the track sure made it fun or shall I say interesting a Laguna

ah! you got lithium now? Cool!

You know that the Tesla now has only one gear and gets really in acceleration trouble after 80mph, but it sounds like you did too. I forgot, how is the gearing set up? can you actually shift with a clutch?

All that torque HP discussion really comes in to play now!

Thanks.

Jeff, You got me thinking about going electric on my Fiat 600 project instead of a motorcycle motor conversion. Can a decent EV conversion be done on a limited budget? Any tips or good places to start?
