The cars are just off of I-20 in North Augusta, SC.

No doubt these cars have been sitting where they are for a long time. You can tell by the way the landscape has grown up around them.

You'd be amazed to see how weed can grow in 2-3 months. Not saying it's the case here, just someone who's actually been on the lot could tell.

I always just wonder what happened along the way. Sometime in the last 20-30 years someone owned one of the most expensive and best built super cars ever made and in just a few years they became this.

How does that happen?

Supercars cost money to maintain. Ask me how I know.
Somewhere along the line, the previous owners of at least a few of these cars received a repair estimate that they decided to walk away from. Cars in need of major repair often sell for cheap especially if they are left at the shop for thirty days or more. Others may have been traded in at a dealer lot on a shiny newer toy and wound up at auction to be picked up for cheap. Some of these cars have obvious body damage. I expect others have damage that is not so obvious.

Owner is a friend of ours and the cars are for sale. They are in all sorts of shape. All have a title but SOME have no keys and the old RAN WHEN IT WAS PARKED is the normal. I am surprised that the pictures where taken but Leon is a very nice person and real CAR NUT.
Why are they sitting, well he has 80+ cars mostley German and now he wants to build a "T" bucket so he will sell anything to get PLAY MONEY for his cars. I did the same selling my 951 to UPGRADE to a 928.
I can get you intouch with his front man if you wish just ask me at lrpweb@bellsouth.net and I will get in touch with him so you can talk. I ALMOST bought the Black one, with the wheels, and the Red one but get off those for what I have now.

This Craigslist ad was posted on the other forum. We were passing thru Augusta this weekend so I stopped by to take a look and some pics. I counted 11 928s rotting away. What a shame.
The red 84 is actually in decent shape. One or two others may have some promise but it's mostly a collection of parts.
Here's the pics.
Gosh, that made me sad...

He is like me, I will quote an out of this world price and figure if you really want the car you will make an offer closer to what you want to pay then we talk.

That's an excellent way to chase off potential buyers.

Which is why he still has a pile of old cars losing value every year. I've seen it many times in collectors, when it was worth $5k they want $6k, and a few years later when its worth $1k they want $1.5k. The terrible event that happens is that at some point in time somebody bought one at the silly price, and they keep thinking lightning will strike again.

Threads like this remind me of a good friend who would love to rescue all the world's homeless puppies, if she only could. Fortunately, she is realistic about what she CAN do...

We just used that approach to the car we just got. The ASKING price on the sticker was $4995.00, on line they wanted $3995.00 Then you add the dealer fees in Florida of another $450.00 to those numbers. The boss (wife) got the car for $3,700.00 in the trailer.
Leon wanted $4,000.00 to me for a car that he quoted $5,500.00 to a person he did not know, get the idea. Every time we take the Rolls someplace I get asked how much for the car I always say $35,000.00 when it will really take $24,000.00 to buy it. When you have a business with a collection attached to it you always get the advanced tire kickers but when someone REALLY wants to buy they will always counter offer your asking price.
