a few thousand dollars of a 58k GTS from 93 vs 94?
silver blue vs slate grey?

I doubt it. this is a very rare find. Anyone that knows these cars would value the main qualities of a GTS. clean, paint , body , miles and general conditon and running order. NO ONE on this list would pick a more worn looking GTS even if it was a year newer. PLUS, this has $30k worth of top level engine work done on it. You just dont see cars like this everyday. to have a broken in, with NO mechanical issues and all detailed service records (pages and pages of maintenance and reciepts for all the work done) stroker 928 GTS, is a dream of most of us.

I think the fluffy details left out, only gave any skeptics reason to pull skeptic rant. Im not involved, only helping a friend and the list. nothing more and nothing less. I drove the car and posted my thoughts. based on my knowledge of the car and cars like it , on and off the track. they dont get any better than this! period. if it was garbage or had any flaws, I would have posted it. it drives like brand new car.

Sterling - +1

Mark - to me there is a lot to the car besides its performance. In this case I agree, as you have described it, the car sounds powerful, built by a credible shop and the owner sounds like many of us here. All good. However there are things like the color that is also important. Silver/Blue as you initially described it sounded really striking. Slate gray with dark grey interior and rub strips, less interesting to me aesthetically. But most important to me was whether the orginal, now stroked, engine was still in the car. I am weird about wanting a numbers matching car.

The car sounds great. I trust your opinion from the many spirited discources I have read where you are a lone swordsman against an angry horde of those whom disagree with your POV. For that you have gained my respect and opinion regarding these cars.

So what is fluffly to you can be and is important to others.

Hopefully the owner has a detailed build sheet for the stroker, if I had laid out that kind of money for an engine like that, I would have everything listed on paper down to the last nut and bolt.

I think the owner will be lucky to get over $25k for it.

Non original engine is big minus points. To enthusiasts like us there's some attraction in a stroker, but even there, people would have reservations on parts used, work done, costs of breakage etc. Anyone who's been considering a stroker would already have a list of parts/requirements that might make an "old" stroker less appealing (did it get the GTS cooling mods to the possibly-S4 heads? any oiling mods to journals or crank drilling? crank scrapers? etc.).

The market for "regular" people (those who don't already own one or more 928's) is almost non existant for a car modified that heavily.

Look at the recent supercharged GTS that was sold - and factor in that it was original engine and could be returned to numbers-matching stock condition.

Hopefully someone who knows these cars well and doesn't have their own plans for a modified engine will pick it up.

Glad this was debated a bit more. I've got an interested party that I could not advise the sale due to lack of information. As good as it looks, can't say that I'd do it.

Thats where I come in. Ive seen it, driven it and certainly understand the purist perspective of wanting engine numbers to match the original paper work. The owner has ALL reciepts and was the last of the builds that devek performed. by this build Devek was pretty good at them. The owner still has the original window sticker and if it was on the car, you would think you were in 1993 just out of a time machine. Its that nice. with only 3k miles on the stroker, if it were me, it would what i would want. a few k miles of proof that it was built right. yes the crank was drilled, but there is no oiling kits, but there is no proof that all that works anyway. I think GTSs have a baffle anyway, right.
Anyway, if you need to see the 30 pictures available, the owner will provide. My only purpose here is to tell you what I saw. Its an amazing machine. Like new, but with the power it should have for a supercar of 2009. This thing is a rocket, and has more power than you would ever want, but the best thing about it , is that it is so driveable.

Has anyone bought this car yet! ????? It is amazing, why is there not more interest.
GTS, in perfect condition, great color and it has a devek stroker with 420rwhp and only 3k miles on the new engine!
You would think that someone would have snatched it up by now!

People I talked to were interested, but when the price went up at the same time model year and motor issues came out, they went sour on it. I suspect offers were made and rejected. Seller wants it more than any buyer, so no sale.

I think he might have been looking for more due to how much he had into the car. Im sure the original range that he was looking to get is still in the ball park. I never really knew what actual year it was, until I asked. As you know, I didnt know the details, other than the history of the rebuild.
What motor issues came out? I said from the start it was a stroker. Is it more desirible to have a stroker made from the stock GTS block? I dont know if any offers were made. I still think its for sale and it is a gorgeous car.

I think it would definitely be better if the stock serial # engine was either used for the stroker, or still with the car. It helps the value a lot.

Performance would be no better though.

There are two big issues that I think are also driving buyers away besides those mentioned before. He has to put in 5 gallons of 100 octane race gas in with each fill up in order to keep it from pinging and he uses about a quart of oil every 500 to 600 miles.

Those two issues could be related. I didn't know the car was burning oil.
