A quart every 600-800 miles would be normal for a stock GTS... Now that 100octane to keep it from pining, well, that is not cool...especially since most 100octanes are NOT unleaded! BIG PROBLEM if that is the case...and the car still has cats on it anyway!

Right, but even though that level of oil burning is considered "normal" it can coke up the cylinders and bring on or worsen pinging. We had a local GTS that was showing compression test results of 210+ PSI and LOTS of pinging. After BG treatment, the compression went down to 190-200 and the pinging became negligible.

Its an engine cleaner that runs through the fuel system? Or maybes its poured right in the cylinders? I can't remember....but Bill has had some great results with it

BG Products has a fuel/air induction cleaning process involving 3 chemicals. It does a remarkable job of removing carbon build up on the intake track, valves and combustion chamber. I've seen the before and after of the backs of 928 GTS valves with a dramatic normalization of compression and reduction in pinging. Most shops offer the service for $150 (at least around here). For more information, go here.

A stock GTS certainly could/should/will burn that much oil. A stroker should not have the same piston issues as a stock GTS and therefore should not burn that much oil.

Another stroker engine that needs to be redone, before it is 5,000 miles old? Let me see...where have I heard that before?

I have 18,000 miles on my stroker now. I changed oil before I went to Dallas and have 4600 miles on that oil and it isn't down enough to add any. It isn't normal for a stroker to use more oil than an S4/GT. I wonder if the oil is getting sucked into the intake rather than going past the rings?

Forgot that was a stroker engine...I knew it was something interesting but could not remember what...

I was going to ask about the BG treatment too...that is good to know.

I would guess its rarely driven and probably driven "spirited" when it is driven..and assuming a stock breather system that is very possible....since the widow "burns" about a 1/4 quart per 20-25 minute run session...or about 20 miles...ORR guys see far higher consumption too....
