Default Anyone ever use 'Freeze12"

My 83 is still set up for R12 in AC. It works fine and I see no reason to swap it to R134.
Before going to Texas next month I was going to top off system. There is an R12 compatable refridgerant on the market called Freeze12. Anyone here ever use it??

Yep, I have used a lot of it in customers cars, no problems so far, it may not cool as well as r12, but it does do a better job than 134a in some cars, and the pressures are lower.

I think it is a blend of 134a and something, not sure about that.

We have been using it for years with no issues

If it is (a blend of 134) you cannot mix it, you will be sorry; I believe it is not 134, but search here, some like it. Some say there is no "drop-in" equivalent. DYODD. Their site lists ingredients. Whatever you use, be sure it is not flammable. No isobutane or propane derivatives.

Freeze 12 is 80% R-134a.
http://www.epa.gov/ozone/snap/refrig.../refblend.html

The remaning 20% is HCFC 142b which is cholo-difluoro-ethane

This is kind of a cute review.

Be prepared to be the only one who will work on your system once you install Freeze 12.

A lot of shops around here use it Bill.

If I had R12, that is what I would use though.

It's definately not flamable. The shop that has my car right now, (just installed a rebuilt compressor) uses Freeze 12, and they say they've had pretty good luck with it. Gonna be nice and cool driving to OCIC in DFW! I like the idea of being able to buy it fairly cheap on ebay and recharge it myself if needed in a few years.

I do not know about that, but the compressor oil is when sprayed as a fine mist like when you have a pin hole leak.

This is true with any type of freon or oil that I know of.

When we did 134a conversions we had many failures of compressors, I can only remember one compressor failure with Freeze 12, and you may have guessed it, it was a ford compressor, a FX10 or 15, I cant remember.
