Has anybody used Dr.ColorChip paint repair kit? Or recommend another product.

I bought the Mothers version of the Langka system.
http://www.langka.com/

You use a glass fiber pen to clean the inside of the chip.

Apply a bulge of touch up paint with a toothpick or match stick.

Allow to partially dry.

Put the Langka stuff on a thin fabric like a T shirt stretched over the edge of a credit card, and the Langka dissolves a bit of the touch up paint as you wipe it over the bulge until its flat.

Apply clear coat.

Buff.

Or something like that, but results are usually very good, as in invisible. (sitting on my shelf, but not tried it yet).

I used the Dr. Colorchip to improve the appearance of road rash on a pretty pitted hood. worked as advertised and was almost imperceptible to anyone else. This was on a black car no less. I would use this product again.

The question I have with these products is how do you feather in that clearcoat without it being obvious? I really need to do this if the results are as promised.

+1 for Langka

Do a search under my screen name for Touch Up, I did a complete write up not too long ago.

FYI, clearcoat is not needed for the Porsche touch up paint and it makes matching the paint more difficult.

+1 on the clearcoat issue. When I put clear on some of my touch-up spots, it darkened the color. So, no clearcoat for me.

Otherwise, I like the Langka product. Relatively easy to use and delivers good results. Probably works best with non-metallics, as the particles tend to sink in the blob leaving straight color. Not an issue with solids.

Jarrod one way to improve the appearance of Langka on metallics is to use multiple layers. This will allow you to take the blob down and get a good match. Some times the best approach is to take the blob down slightly further than the level of the paint and add another layer. Then use the langka to gently remove the very top layer until you get a match. It won't be perfect but pretty close and definitely not noticeable from 3 - 4 ft.

Thanks Afshin! Hadn't thought about that, but it makes perfect sense.
