The biggest headache you have had with your car?
What is the biggest headache you have had with your car?
I am looking for the biggest bitch, the most annoying thing
The hardest to fix.
What pisses you off about your car and the way Porsche made it.
For me, since I do not do body work, it has to be the ****ty job that the body shop took 14 months to do.
I did strip the car, the fenders were fun, as was the other body issues like having to rebuild the sunroof, the door hinges, handles, stays, GTS mirrors, the whole repaint the car deal was a huge **** adventure that is not done yet.
Second is the memory seats, some one had moved some wires around in the terminal end on the connector where the body wiring harness connect to the seat.
A added bonus was all the cut wires, but now it all looks and works like it came out of the factory.
that took days to figure out, we ended up using the seat back from my 87 since it was a 12 way seat, the bottom from a donor car that was a 8 way and the leather off the eight way seat, huge pain.
Rob and Paul, this is for you
I have much more to post, I am sure you guys want to vent also.
What simple fix has made you want to lock the shop up and go drink shots?
I also really want to hear from the folks that fix other folks cars.

The biggest headache I got was when I was practicing left foot braking and forgot to move my foot to the clutch before trying to upshift after the corner. Ouch, that windscreen is a lot closer than it looks.

Rear main seal... Hands down!
First you need to drop the clutch. Not hard, but still a bit of a PITA to keep it from falling on your face. Then you need to futz with those tripple square bolts on the flywheel the inventor of which should be shot! Then getting the new seal in is super frustrating becuase once you think you have it started, it pops out. Then you put it all back together and it still leaks.

For me so far it was definitely the clutch master cylinder replacement . I could only get it in after removing the brake lines and unbolting the vacuum booster. I also had to put the master in with the clutch line loose to get extra movement then later tighten it. It was an all day nightmare and had me seriously doubting my skills as a tech ( I'm a BMW /general tech by trade).

I freaking hate the little sorry assed clips on the injector pigtails, when the plastic breaks, as it often does, it is fun.

That's certainly is true as well. I just fixed 5 injector plugs on a buddy's car that had lost the wire clips. The car ran a lot better afterward. The plug for the temp II sensor is identical, but Porsche used a wire clip on that plug that had little "hands" at the end of the arms that wrap around the plug so the clip can not pop off. Weird.

Anytrhing about an auto transmission, because the rear suspension and wiring have to come off, along with brakes and vacuum and shifter linkages, and then the trans has to come out, and reverse it all after you've done the real work. Also, I recently did the steering rack rnr, and it was an extremely messy and puzzling exercise.

How is this different for a manual tranny other than the vacuum line (which pops right off)?

man, I did the steering rack twice in the same week. first one blew a seal on the first startup (WTF?) Opted for a more reliable rebuilder the second time around and did it all over again. i think this qualifies as my biggest headache, also.
