She thinks I'm having a midlife crisis and am just going through another of my obsessions.
Anyway I'm just reading alot and trying to gather as much knowledge as I can so when I do find one it will be a good one. Again thanks for the warm welcome and I hope to be an actual 928 owner in the next 6 months or so.

Representing south Austin for 39 years!

Get with James Morrison and head up to OCIC, then the bug will get you in full force. Bring the wife and kids with you and meet the crowd. With the cars and people that will be here, it just might make it an easier sell for them.

Yea, and if you like Burgundy exterior and a RED/black interior we might be able to work something out on my '84 S... It has casually been on and off the market. Not in any rush to sell it...I like the car and a friend is borrowing it at the moment anyway...

IrishLegend - There is absolutely no better place to see, learn and enjoy the 928 experience than at the OCIC meeting in Arlington. If you have any desire to own one of these cars there can be no better investment of your time. The people you will met there will not only become a great source of technical insight but friends as well.

An Irish legend representing South Austin for 39 years..... does that mean you can dance a jig in cowboy boots?

I've almost got the wife leaning towards Arlington...she's not totally against it! If I can just get her there I know all of the 928 owner's can combine their powers and win her over! Mmmmhahahaha!

For those like me that missed the discounted rate at the Sheraton, here's another option.

I went on Priceline and entered $40/night, for a 3.5 star hotel in the zone that covers the convention center. Got a response that if I bumped it up to $52, I could try again. I entered $52 and got a room at the Hilton Arlington for two nights which is just the other side of I30 and to the east a mile or two from the convention center. With PriceLine you can't pick the hotel, but it could be that others would get the same deal at the same hotel, but no garantees. This hotel goes for 114/night on Travelocity, so less than half price. It would be more fun to stay right where the action is, but this hotel should be fairly convenient.

Holding the OCIC in Dallas was my dream and I am honored to have close friends like Jim Mayzurk to help achieve the goal. Without Jim and his wife Diane I would not have been able to carry this through on my own back. We have a core group who have also stepped up to the plate and you know who you are. Lots of members of the local DFW group have offered help during the event and for that we are grateful - very grateful.
Lots of out of towners are also stepping up to the plate to help out as well and that is awesome.

Finances are tight - very tight - however I will ensure the event is covered 100%.
One situation we did not figure into our computations was the large number of attendees that will be coming to DFW without their cars, meaning no fee at all. The budget was based on numbers of cars not attendees.

I would like to ask those that are attending without cars to consider paying an entrance fee of $25 per person. This is purely a voluntary commitment and in no way will it be enforced and I ask for your support as a fellow 928 owner. This is an awesome event and worth every penny.

Also a lot of people that have registered have yet to pay and I ask that you do so when you arrive please if not before. I have always been amazed at the honesty of the 928 family so this I think is a moot issue.

Thanks for listening to me and for your continued support.

We look forward to seeing everyone in Arlington!
Roger

I'm coming sans car and paid the full fee, it's worth it to me. Thanks Roger for doing this.

I've already paid but I thought if you were going to attend it was 125 whether you had a car there or not. For all the fun that goes on at these(After talking to Sterling) the 125 seemed like a deal. At 25.00 it's almost a crime. Come on guys kick in and show your support. The DFW group has done a lot of work on this and deserve your support.

Says who Roger? You guys are all bustin' your tails to put this together, everyone needs to chip in. I'm a late entrant, but I'll be paying the full fee even though I'm flying in.

C'mon everyone, if you can't pay the full fee chip in something. It is a suck situation to leave someone or a group of people holding the financial bag for something that benefits us all. Let's pass the hat around!
