You've never changed the brake lines on it? Damn man. Glad you and the car are ok.

What was the failure mode, rupture? What did the lines look like? It is kinda rare to see stock lines fail, but I guess they are subject to a lot more stress on the track.

I was really pushing hard this weekend, but I guess even the bullet proof stock lines can fail after 23 years!

Yep, glad to be able to tell the story. The in-car videos for both races are pretty funny scrambling for survival with a broken shift lever in the first race and no brakes in second.

right at the fitting on the caliper, it was ouzing out the fitting pretty freely. Hoses didnt look that bad though. the fitting blew inside the steel coupling.
Pedal goes to floor, fluid just pours out.

Hi Mark: Sorry couldn't make it this weekend. Family issues prevailed.

Oh, my advice - change the rear brake lines too even if they haven't popped yet!

I was about to tell Anderson to only send the fronts.

Thanks, I think I have all 4 coming. Any tricks to changing them out?

23 year old brake lines? Wow, I replace them routinely on my street cars let alone something I'm running on the track. Easy enough job and cheap insurance, just push out as much fluid as you can, unscrew/unclip the old ones, install new just like the old and then flush the system with new fluid and bleed.

By the way, WTF is that 70's piece of iron with the big wing, a Matador? Holy crap, but was it fast crap? Cool in its own way. And is that a Ford GT with comprehensive plastic surgery? Wish I could have been there, looks like a great field.

yep, its a Mercury Cyclone and it was an old nascar from what it started out from. all tubed framed now and really really wide. 1200hp from the scientists in the paddock. usually runs 1:31s as well, but its a sight to see something that big go so fast!! too bad it had some major problems with the engine this weekend. It was sick!!

Matt robinson , you will get to robinson racing and he has the entire story on the car. worth the visit.

RACE 1 is where the gear shift lever broke after lap 8. Finished the race with just 3rd gear

Race 2

and rear view of RACE 2 . This is the RACE where I blow a brake line after lap 8 but still finish the race.

Those of you that know Laguna Seca, the NSX actually did a 1:29.4 in Race2
interestingly, he couldnt break 1:30, with the DOTs, however, the Griggs Mustang did an amazing ITE record shattering 1:29.8 ON the DOT tires, but didnt win the race, though he gave it a good shot!

Mark, Mark... it was a pleasure to finally meet you gents. I had a great time. Sorry you both suffered some mechanical issues, but that's racing. Looking forward to the next event, Mark A. make sure you bring the other race car... you know, the one with the engine up front. lol

good to see you out there too!

Hey, I just saw the lap times on Mylaps and actually, the problems really happened after 13 to 15 laps. so, i actually got a near full race in , and I only lost two spots putting around in both races. Most of the battles were over after lap 7 in these races. Mark A, got the worse end of the that deal. But, he still had some great action for the first few laps in both races. AND, he did post a 1:33.xx with his hot rod cup car!
