Many of us are waiting to see the results, I honestly think that the repair, doing it like Greg is going to do it will be as good or better than the untouched block was, due to the fact you can control the clearances.

Yes, but I think we need to control the impellers from coming off also. Apparently, the new Porschw WPs have plastic impellers. The last one I bought was metal. I'd prefer plastic but, either way, I'd like some assurance that the impeller will stay put.

Greg's repair, BTW, should save more than a few blocks. Smart guy.

At the request of some customers I have supplied a couple of rebuilds recently and they both had plastic impellers. The Porsche rebuild and the new have plastic impellers now.
The Laso will be supplied with a plastic impeller as well very soon.
I still do not think this solves the problem. The plastic impeller may stop the block getting machined but is more prone to coming off - this, as has been said before, can cause overheating which could be more catstrophic.
Still a crap shoot in my book.

Update: Closing the loop on this discussion -- Greg and Steve have been making huge strides with their solution. It looks like testing of a prototype is underway -- details in this thread.
