Thanks James. Unfortunately because the car has yet to be registered in California it must pass the state safety inspection in addition to the smog test. Part of the safety inspection is to insure all required lights and reflectors are on the car. This only happens once when you bring a car into CA from another state. So, I've gotta have the lights/reflectors in place.

Andy, the body/paint guy, Ron Ruff is in SoCal, Mckenna Porsche, Audo MB Collision Repair. He is a maestro to be sure but it can get pricey.

dr. bob - yes the base car was in pretty good shape. Paint was ok but had several clear coat and base coat issues on the hood and roof. What started out as a medium effort to correct those paint issues evolved into a full repaint for a few dollars more.... then I realized having an all black interior was not a good idea in Hawaii, so I decided to do the Champagne treatment, for a few dollars more..... then I got thinking how great it would be to have Greg Brown build me a stroker.... for few dollars more.

The truth be known the front end damage is bittersweet but in the end the S4ordie family will have a spectacular 928.... two when you consider the Zyclamrot Metallic car I just bought from Marc White... for a few dollars more. Not many dollars left so until I find the leprechaun with the pot-o-gold at the end of the rainbow, I'll be done for awhile. Although I would like to someday own a ORR capable and prepared car. I know there is one for sale now, but just no in a position to act upon it.

Ah! The quest for perfection. Personally, I am still (again) on the quest for drivable.

Wow...odd since I seem to remember that Kie had a pretty reputable shop up here in the PacNW do the initial repair. I can't remember the name of the place, but I guess it goes to show..even the better places may not do the job right..

Nice to see that this one will end up better than it left the factory though..
good job Dan..

He also pointed out some evidence the front end was still bent somewhat. The first pic shows where the headlight bar across the front of the main support has etches where it rubs against the small finned cooler. I asked him to take some measurements of the critical points along the frame. Sure enough, the left front was still pushed in about an inch. Though the previous front end repair looked good, all panels aligned pretty well, the sub structure was not properly repaired. This also explained why the car still pulled a bit to the left immediately after a full Hunter alignment at a reputable Porsche shop here in the Bay Area.

Just for future reference, and since this shop is near my neck of the woods, how many $$$$ are we talking about here?

Cowboy,
What colors are you going with? Linen type for seats, emerald green on doors, black carpet??

Are you having speakers installed in doors later?

Looking good man!!
