Hah! Yeah, that must be the new 997-based ones. I recall that the 30 hour number was for a 993-based cup car. (And I also remember hearing this at Mont Tremblant when a cup car motor disintegrated within two hours of a fresh rebuild because, apparently, the 'racing gasoline' up there wasn't quite up to snuff octane-wise )

Porsche will quote a rebuild recomendation that is very consertative and when they rebuild they throw away the the heads, pistons, cylinders plus much more which is why it's so expenve to rebuild.
The upside is you rarely see a factory build motor fail.
The 997 motor is nearly identical to the 996 motor and I suspect most club racers will see 100 hours.

The grenaded cup motor I referred to wasn't a Porsche Motorsports build. It was done by a Boston-area 911 shop. So, apparently, mileage does vary...

RSRs are a little more high strung. 30hours Ive heard and 60 for the cup engines, but you cant rebuild them if you want to run in some series. exchange.
I remember seeing the price tag on the RSR engine, it was 80k. LOL!

SWEET. I wish I could have been there for that one. My kids would have gone NUTS. You should have heard them every time you got out front during cup race #6... How often does POC go to Fontana?

Have you checked in with the PacNW928 Yahoo group? They just held a track day "Track Attack" in Spokane, sounded like a great time. They do them twice a year. Next one is Sept 19th I believe. They'd also be able to help you find other DE and track days in the area.
We also have the occasional get together and wrenching sessions.
If you haven't already, check in on the yahoo group. They're a good bunch.

Joe - would be interesting to see the car type listed with the race results data for each driver. Could be the cars that came in 4th through 20th place were PT Cruisers or sumpin
Great job representing the 928. For people like me who live in places where there are no opportunities to DE/AX or race, it is fun to vicariously participate through those who can and whom do it well.
Super results!
