remember, I have raced or been responsible for 5 928 engines at the track. all running 305s in the rear , R compound and all the laps over 10 years being under 2:05 at Thunderhill, with exception of the '79 running 2:10, but only with 200rwhp. (but think about the g loading since it didnt have the power to run that kind of time)
Oil foaming, oil levels, how you drive the car, prior damage, and the other 6 factors that Greg mentioned
knock knock!!!!

I think lighweight 928's with larger R comps or slicks is a huge contributing factor on this too..... When I tracked sharky on street tires 235 front 265 rear and took the same corner I do in the widow, but much slower I hardly saw any oil pressure drop....using the same oil....vs the widow which would drop to 2.5 bar

I had a drilled crank failure in a 16v motor with 5L bottom end. But there were questions about the crank drilling and perhaps about the motor build (done by me). This was discussed in another thread:

I don't think I am the one Dave C. referred to, as I hope I am only semi-retired....

No matter what happens, I'm in the bonus round!
You really think I've been that lucky??? I should start selling rabbit foot key rings??? 10 full racing seasons, 5 different engines and platforms, no failures? Maybe my motors should be taken apart to see what makes them all tick! . Ive got more races than any 928 in the history of the platform with any single or multiple engine and NO DNFs. Plus, all the stuff is stock, not even an oil cooler!
And, we are not talking sloutch times on the track. Same times as Mark Anderson ran with his stroker with more weight than he normally runs, and DOT tires in 1999 and 2000 Speedvision WCGT with 100 less HP, so the G loading has to be equal or greater.
knock knock!
Kind of joking here, as you know. But seriously, when I've looked at my #2 and 6 bearings, they look normal. I havent broken the seal of the Holbert motor yet, but i would suspect the bearings are just fine. Im waiting for the blackstone results after a half of a season with the new stroker to see how the GreenBay stroker is running. i suspect, fine as the filter is looking clean at every change.

Now you're just offending the "Car Gods'".
Step away from Mark Kibirt. Lightening is about to strike.

fwiw, my oil analysis is perfect too.. over 10k miles, 3rd season of racing and street driving
imho, driving technique, warm up, etc play a big role. I've seen many novice racers tend to rev the crap out of stuff, and 928's make their power at a lot lower rpm than a 2 stroke, 4 or 6 banger. kinda like driving a harley in a pack of ricers/2 strokers - takes an effort NOT to overrev and use the low end torque/wide powerband to full advantage.
I also suspect some of greg's oil control magic might be helping mine too. sorry, no amsoil
