I hate to say it (well, ok, I don't hate to say it), but the PO had been using Amsoil 20W-50. Not sure that one oil or another would have made a difference.

Not sure at all whether the block can be salvaged. There's probably more damage that can't be seen yet. I'm going to try to disassemble it this weekend ('Cause I need more disassembled motors in my garage....)

WOW...thats some serious carnage.....damm.... I'm SO glad I caught mine just as it wore through the rod bearings....as I don't think I was very far away from what happened to your motor!

BTW...that giant chunk out of the crank counterweight is machined out, stock...not removed by force.

Oh.(duh....) It seemed awfully smooth and regular to be damage. Is that unique to the GTS crank? I don't recall seeing that on either of my GT cranks.

Isn't that the inside counterweights....so the normal cranks with only 6 counterweights don't have a counterweight there, only GTS cranks and stroker cranks with 8 counterweights?
