Wow, the forces involved to do that damage is mind blowing, atleast you guys know everything about these cars to put a new engine.

Mark-

I hate to say it (well, ok, I don't hate to say it), but the PO had been using Amsoil 20W-50. Not sure that one oil or another would have made a difference.

Puyi-

Not sure at all whether the block can be salvaged. There's probably more damage that can't be seen yet. I'm going to try to disassemble it this weekend ('Cause I need more disassembled motors in my garage....)

Now that's how you blow and engine... if you're going to do it, do it right. Best of luck with the rebuild - the car is beautiful by the way.

Given that his wife is a surgeon I can understand how they might be missing....

Actually this is the least amount of damage I have ever seen when a rod breaks.

SERIOUS.....wow it looked really bad to me... I guess it could have ventilated the block....which would have been much worse

Oh.(duh....) It seemed awfully smooth and regular to be damage. Is that unique to the GTS crank? I don't recall seeing that on either of my GT cranks.

Rob
Isn't that the inside counterweights....so the normal cranks with only 6 counterweights don't have a counterweight there, only GTS cranks and stroker cranks with 8 counterweights?
