Lisa, call Mark at 714-632-9288 and discuss the possibilities.

Parting a car yourself is tedious messy work. There are a few 'plum' pieces like the engine that will probably sell quickly, and then the other 98% of the parts that will sell in fits and starts until you and your neighbors get tired of looking at what's left. If you go that route, you'll have to contend with a couple towing bills too-- One to get it home then the other to get the shell removed from your driveway. Or call Mark and discuss the possibilities.

Some good news is that the 928 market is more than slightly depressed right now, so it's a good time to be looking. There are some good cars popping up, if you are ready to jump back in right away.

Glad you survived OK, didn't take out any innocents on the way, etc. You were fortunate to say the least!

Call Mark...

I am glad you are ok, had to be scary!
Cars can be replaced.
I try to warn every one who has a 928, 944, 924 about the fuel lines.

We have a 85 in the shop right now, the owner did not want to replace the fuel lines until I told him that he needed to either replace them or not drive it.

He changed his mind when he saw how badly cracked they were.

Lisa we can pick up the car, strip it, and deliver the engine to your friend making the process as painless as possible for you.

Yes, as someone who parted a car a couple years ago it's really no fun at all. Just dealing with all the idiots on ebay made me never want to do it again.

Glad the car took care of you with its dying breath. If the interior is really excellent -- leather, etc. you could potentially put that in a different car. The interior is one of the most expensive areas to restore on a car that needs it.

We need to talk about what to do when this happens. Keeping going is not an option. You need to stop immediately ... sprinting across 3 lanes when you cannot see; skipping into traffic across red lights ... VERY BAD IDEAS!!!

If you have no brakes, use your handbrake. It will always work. If not, use your engine.

Did I just say that outloud?

Glad your OK
and the handbreak idea might have been a good one - but I'm glad you moved off the interstate rather then get run over by some idiot!
monday night quarterbacking is the specialty on the list....
When we are in situations we handle them as best as we can - I'm sure you did what was best.
Give Mark a call - great, honest, knowledgable, and the best opinion about if Leeroy could be saved or not....

Glad youre okay, that really sux though!

You just reminded me to install the fuel line rebuild kit thats sitting on my shelf sooner rather than later.
Hope the you get something out of the wreck. Now is a good time to buy a car (hopefully replacement shark) prices are down. Best of luck!

Just curious if it was an automatic or stick. Blue line of death can easily shoot brake fluid on the headers causing the same fire on driver's side.

I'm glad to hear that you are okay! Man that would be scary!

I just replaced the fuel lines today and it wasn't that bad, although that U hose in back of the MAF is punk if you don't remove the MAF (which I eventually did).

If the car can't be saved, what color interior? I might be interested.

A toast to Leeroy. he gave his all to save the pax. Bent metal is bad, bent people is a lot worse. Glad you got out.

Now, get to work looking for a replacement. I don't think you want to mess with parting it out. You could get rid of some bits right here on rennlist, but you'd have to pull and ship, and park the car somewhere. It's kind of a hassle.

Please keep us informed.
