Default SCCA ITE SEASON OPENER at SEARS POINT 3-29-09 (VIDEO ON YOUTUBE)

"World Challenge meets grass roots budget racers!"

We are getting ready for the Sears Point race this next weekend. Just got the entry list. Looks like all the money bags are coming out to claim the SCCA ITE championship this year.

350z TT 650hp monster
the Griggs nascar powered Mustang,
a full custom supercharged NSX, like PD cunninham's GT car in World challenge built by the same guys, Comtech,
350hp turbo RX7,
The vet has a WC Race cam now,
Rylan in the S2000 has his car in pieces, engine out, who knows what he and his scientists are up to, but has a backup car as well, for this season,
The Mistu Evo WORKS, from the Newfoundland Targa Rally,
Miki in the mustang has a new intake, was 450rwhp, who knows now,
and my nemises in the White M3 e36, now has had McGee Motorsports make him a new '99 e46 racer.

Tough crowd. should be an excellent show though!

green drops this next sunday the 29th, at 3:45

It appears ITE is becoming SERIOUSLY big $$$$$ class......bummer really.....

Might just have to add some boost to your stroker?

Don't forget the custom Driving Ambition Twin Turbo NSX that makes 520whp at 2400lbs

& I know of 1 LS1 Miata that might show up too later in the year? 400hp-2300lbs

I think the sideplates will be a good start with some tuning. Ill pull out some fuel at the next dyno run to see if i can get in the 12s from end to end AFR.
with the big brakes, and the big tires up front, i might be able to make up some time. Anderson did do a 1:35 on DOTs on the old track with all the bolt on intake power 485rwhp, but the spec weight. thats 1:34 by todays standard on the new track, so I should be able to get in the 1:35-6s which should put me near the front, I hope. we shall see.

Scot is probably doing just a few events this year. he has some intermediate clutch work to do.

Just found out that the vet got an upgrade. everyone has been so sneaky over the winter.
S2000 supercharger - completely rebuilt car,new engine 400+rwhp, intercooler, bars, etc
Vet- just found out that he is up to 440rwhp with only a new cam for this year
camaro- new splitter and Im sure secret tuning stuff
NSX - monster big buck$ project 550rwhp
350zturbo- 650hp, but blew its motor before the race
RX7- no inside information other than near 370hp out of the newer body style
BMW- e36 lightweight euro M3, but now its listed as a different color and 1999. could be an e46 pro-built by McGee motorsports

A few more doing some changes. should be a good looking field. Hope to get some good video!

Does this get any airtime, or is this non-televised? Will it at least be recorded and replayed late night

I wish! its some pretty good racing and the best part about it is the diversity of the cars. But no, no TV time for the SCCA club stuff until the nationals, which our ITE class really doesnt fit in.
We are trying to promote it, so we will see what happens eventually.

Just found out that rylan's S2000 has a new built 2.2 liter with a turbo, not the supercharger this year. Rumored to be OVER 500rwhp. 2500lbs and over 500hp, sounds like even Mark Anderson might have his work cut out for him with this beast, IF he can drive it! I dont think this car is a 1:42 at Sears on DOTs, but you never know. well, we will know Sunday!

Even the monster Griggs racing mustang is having issues today in testing, only clicking off a 1:43.
geez, what an Arms race this has become. Time to join the ex-WC GT class called STO. Only about 4 cars signed up. (all factory race cars and x wc GT cars) might have more of a chance in this group.

We shall see.

Anyone coming out?

Default RACE Results

Ill do a more detailed report when I have time.

The car ran fantastic. no oil blow by. for the first time, only ran the oil level to about 2mm below full. seems to do the trick. ran cool as can be. Still hanging with the competition coupe vipers in the acceleration area.
New brakes ARE FANTASTIC!! bigest change in the cars performance since the stroker. pagid blacks are the bomb! no fade, anywhere, and the pads look great, not cooked like the oranges did normally. The stopping power with the grip and lack of fade was amazing!

Qualified 7th, but knew I could pick up 2 spots if I pushed the car a little, which I did. ran 1:48.xx in qual, but probably a second or two faster in the race. we had to run the short Indy course with the short turn 11, so the times dont mean much for the race. except the leaders in qual ran 1:41, and I was only 5-6secs off the leader in the race. (1:41 is a top 10 speed GT time in World challenge). The reason the short course had to be used, is that the turn 11 wall was damaged in the race before, so bad it was unsafe. hence, they used the short turn 11.

Race was a packed field. got up to closing in on the 4th position, when we had a "little" racing incident with the new guy in his 380rwhp mazda. Ill post the details tomorrow.

Here are some pics of a few of the goup.
all our cars, but the last one I thought was cool in the other group. factory5GTMR. by the way, ,the NSX smoked everyone in our group and in the super unlimited class. all on 225 front tires! (slicks and DOTs different in each class)

MK
that looks like the GTM that was doing well in the NASA 25 hours until it broke?

Pesky Miatas always get in the way.....380whp...it MUST be a turbo or engine swap?
