260 seems right. About 15% loss for drivetrain. 270 with headers seems on target as well.

My 84 Euro S engine in my 1980 928 put down 261rwhp/262rwt. These numbers were through an S4 cat into a single 3inch exhaust with Borla mufflers. Previously, with the stock 80 cat and exhaust it put down only 240rwhp....very restrictive.

One item to note, is that the early 84 Euro S engines actually had leftover 83 Euro S pistons, so the actual compression was probably lower than advertised.

Brett, try to ignore the naysayers... I'm sure the Wright brothers had to endure many negative comments too. Whether your engine holds up for your speed run or not, and regardless of how long it holds up overall, I'm sure you're going to have loads of fun with it. Please share! Hell, if you don't want to post it publicly I'd love to get the info in a PM.

First '84 MY did use 10.0:1 pistons but do they actually make 310 DIN hp since they have LH-Jet, EZT and different cams than 300 hp '80-83 S? Maybe late '84-86 10.4:1 CR engine makes actually more than 310.

Early S2 have the old dual exhaust.The last ones(MY 86?) have big brakes and the true dual exhaust from the 86.5 S3.
My MY 84 is a swisscar.Different LH boxes.i have a spare S3 dual exhaust.The problem is maybe the batterybox but 10-15 hp more is a nice powergain..
Carl has dynosheets for his dualexhaust on his website but i´m a little bit sceptical.

ALL 1986 U.K. S2 had the dual exhaust and big brakes and suspension from an S4...

You are correct about the battery box as well, because of the twin exhaust pipes ,all the way from front to the rear kidney shaped box and because the S2 has the outlet for the twin tips coming out DIAGONALLY at the back corner (S4 came STRAIGHT out)......the battery box has a dented in corner (done at the factory lol.....this means a genuine 86 S2 has to have a smaller battery than an S4....

scots stock euro with Ljet (very restrictive), but euro cams and intake, made 250rwhp with headers.

Interesting. My '83 is CIS, the Porsche CoA stipluates that it was built with Austria Equipment Package, and I haven't been able to sort out what that might have been...

Hi Brett, we use the same type of dyno that you do, are you quoting rear wheel hp or flywheel, there is a tendency in the UK to quote the flywheel figure, especially the people at WRC. We had a dyno day and the S4 automatic did 250 rwhp and the S 3 speed auto did 211 rwhp. A rebuilt S2 engine, new 98 mm pistons did 227 rwhp from memory. I think the 4.5 did about 187 rwhp on the day. Drivetrain loss on the Dyno Dynamics machine is more than 15% use a factor 1.32 to get a flywheel figure.

Hi Greg

The NON Nitrous chart was around 290 ish (from memory) RWHP...and they adjusted it up by 7% (?) to give 306 flywheel estimated..


The 150 hp of Nitrous run was a problem on the rollers as it kicked in so strongly it was trying to launch my 928 OUT of the rollers lol....thats why there are so many failed runs on that chart...eventually they used every strap in the place to tie the back end down and got one reasonable run.....but wouldnt run it again

My local dyno now rufuses to run mine at all as apparently when their dyno hits 1000 hp it all goes red and shuts down, with possible damage.....and they say they wont take the risk....I dont know how much of that reason is true, but its what they say....

I do know that dyno or not, mine is now running way way way over 500 rwhp

The only real problem I have had (apart from traction) is boiling the tranny fluid which I cured by changing it to Synthetic.

Do you have a tranny cooler? Most track sharks have a tranny cooler added since they suffer from the same issue.
Is the LSD installed yet?

Hi

I have the LSD but need a puller that will fit the pinion, we tried the crown wheel on its own , but it WHINED very very badly ....so need to fit both...

Once thats fitted (LSD) I will think about a tranny cooler, but I am not sure it will cool fast enough for my short runs.
