Next time anyone complains about the end price for products developed for the 928 by you guys who make them I'm going to direct them to this thread.
R&D isn't just an excuse to mark up a product, it's a very time consuming commitment and a risky investment for the vendor.
Great job!
If I didn't own a 928 I'd think this kind of specialty work for a car that is out of production and so limited in supply was crazy...instead I know the 928 is worthy of the efforts. We are lucky you guys picked the 928 to be your pet project.

What we really need is a removable front nose that we can mount a splitter on.
This front clip seems very dangerous from a labor perspective, as what happens if you ding a fender in a race? the entire assembly has to be replaced or cut and modified? I guess you just fix the part that is broke like a corvette?
anyway, what a monster project! You guys are incredible.

Carl,
Great post! Thanks for the detailed write-up and excellent pics. It would have been good enough for most vendors to offer a product, show the weight and pics of the finished product and answer questions from there.
Your post is extremely detailed and a great read for the DIYer.
I wish I had a use for this. Maybe someday...

The car is SO MUCH EASIER to work on now our only regret is that we did not do it sooner. I highly recommend it.
When I find the time I will post a write-up on how we did it.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND COMMENTS AND SUPPORT. MUCH APPRECIATED.

Is development of a hinge kit in the works?
So, we ended up putting a seam into the front fender Corvette-style right behoind the tire. Then it all works.
If you added a hinge at the front that permitted a pull-forward and a tip-up, it'd work. You need to clear the fog lamps before you tip up. Certainly do-able.
We already have the little brackets to attach the hood to the fenders, and stuff like that. Our development of the front-hinge kit stopped when we considered how much weight it would add. This is, after all, a race car.
But, if I knew I had customers, I could finish the development and make such a kit.

Wow, great product and great write up, very interesting to see the process. Thanks for sharing.
And although I'll never have the need for something like this, the pricing looks like a steal to me.

Most of the racers I have seen at PCA events, WOULD be better taking 40lbs off their middle than out of their cars! LOL! I know that applies to me! Ha Ha!

for 20 or 40lbs, this is kind of a stretch for the bang for the buck. Better to grab some additional downforce by a better splitter and the remainder of funds spent on more HP to push through the drag ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Great work as always..........did you make the wheel wells any larger to accommodate wider front wheels? It seems about a 295 front tire is the limit for the front of a S4 without fender mods?
