Hmm a 13lb front assembly....vs 58lbs before not counting the weight of the hood struts and hinge asembly....so maybe 50lbs off the nose of the car......Hmmmm....very tempting....especially if it allows wider tires.....

Very cool but I can't imagine there is much of a market for this piece. Looks as though you were doing it to be able to replace your own front end in the event of a crash.

I think your time would have been better spent by making molds of the fenders for a wide body or carbon fiber fender, hood, and front bumper cover with the ability to add a front splitter. From a consumer standpoint, this does not make sense.

Now, take this and make it so you can retrofit a front hinge mechanism so this could be used on a street car and you would have something really nice that is marketable. As is, it's just not practical unless you are a hardcore racer. There are not that many hardcore 928 racers around. Cool work though.

I wasnt looking for a large market. I needed one (you will see why later) and I knew I had to make it myself if it was to happen at all.

If it happens that others can use the single front clip, all the better.

Your right - if marketability was the only goal - this piece would never have gotten made.

PS: how 'bout loosing 40 pounds off the beltline AND taking 40 pounds out of the nose of the car?

Carl...AMEN to the above bro'! Not sure what my whole deal on the race car weighs, but I suspect it is more than your set up... We still use the stock hood, but the big wide light glass fenders and they are attached to each other using an AIR front end, so you have to be REALLY, REALLY careful taking that whole big off the car... Probably 3 or 4 people would be a good idea on my set up just so you don't mess up the AIR front bumper cover (any more than it is already cracked...)

I like it, but like others would have loved to see some wider fenders on there so you could get 335's up front...

Hmm some quick math......widow weighed 2726lbs with about 80lbs of gas..BEFORE some other work.....dropped about 80lbs with the new battery-box removal....so thats 2566 + the seats, harness & cage.....so I would guess about 2726 lbs right now with both seats.....drop another 40...thats 2685lbs....not bad, less than 100lbs over Andersons super lightweight racer.... My goal always 2700lbs or less with 1 seat and some gas....

Its a pretty simple formula. put a simple cage in the 928 S4 or early 928 and the weight will be 2680 with a couple of gallons of gas. with the early cars, and not as much cutting, 2690.

add the extra door bar, the toyos vs hoosiers, (also 305s vs 275s in front), fire system and suddenly you are just a tad over 2700lbs and there is nothing you can do about it! however, if you want to take the car apart and sand blast the frame , you might loose 200lbs, but then you will probably put another 100lbs back in with more bars for strength. Anderson's car , at the end of the day is a very nice 2600lbs at best. that last 100lbs is pretty hard to find. His main advantages are in the wide front stance and being able to use those 335s on all 4 corners .

That's always the way. We thought about it - but I can find as many guys who want it stock-looking as those who want it with fender flares. Cant please everybody with one design.

So we figured to start with the stock shape first - now done. We used laminating-resin fiberglass - so laminating the fiberglass fender flare of your choice to it is easy. The clip is completely customizable.

Myself - I'll be mounting the front fender flares from this kit to mine:

I've thought about doing this for a long time. Great work!

Flaring the fenders slightly would have been a good idea... not enough for the 335 guys but enough for people who want to look stockish and use 275-305 wide tires.
