It is a lot like bodywork.....the last 10 % can take 90 % of the time.

Very close, Hacker. If the weather would have broken 30 degrees for any kind of a stretch, it would have been running a long while ago.

Sheesh, ain't that the truth, Jim.

In fact, not too much progress has been made in the extreme cold that set in a week ago. It was 7 degrees F when we woke up this morning, and even at noon, the "warm" part of the day when the sun is hitting the garage....

....it was too damn cold to go outside and hold steel tools. I can't blame The Guy. And even when it's 20 outside, it still feels like 7 inside the garage, because all the concrete blocks hold the cold all day long. Toofast928 can attest to that, as he has been visiting regularly. And even then, he has to leave rather quickly, cuz it's too cold!

So, anyway, what he has done is work on things he could do inside. He got all of the injectors installed on the rails, and he even managed to get rails installed in the car at some point. He also wrapped the intercooler in an aluminized heat barrier because he has determined that the only space that will accommodate it is in the engine bay, pretty much under the engine on the passenger side fender, and it will be hot there. Brackets for the intercooler and intercooler radiator have been mostly cut out and pretty much just need to be welded up now.

The chips also arrived from Tim Murphy today, so he got those installed into the computers. Thanks again, Tim and Hacker!!

Looks like more cold will stay with us until early next week, when it supposedly will warm up a bit (to 30 degrees). If that really happens, a lot more progress will be made. Stay tuned!

Had a bit of progress in the past few days, with some slightly warmer weather.

He got the intercooler installed, and the hosing for the supercharger itself, the intercooler has been leak-tested and run, and the pump and water part of it works perfectly.

The intercooler looks like it was made for the car, and if you didn't know, you might not realize it wasn't. It has been wrapped with aluminized heat barrier due to its close proximity to the exhaust system, but there simply wasn't any other place to put it. The exhaust is wrapped with heat wrap to further reduce any ambient heat the intercooler is exposed to. Hopefully it will work!

Here are a bunch of pictures of the intercooler installation, from varying angles.

The two 12 inch fans and intercooler radiator fit nicely.

The intercooler system holds in total about 4.5 gallons of water, approximately 1 gallon more than it used to (while using the washer tank as a reservoir as before). Pumping 500 gph.

The all-silicone hosing for the supercharger system is pretty cool.

The Synapse blow off valve is a beautiful piece of engineering, and we have toofast928 to thank for pointing us to it.

Everything underneath except for the exhaust and transmission is done, with covers in place in front.

A few more things to take care of under the hood, and then it's time to push the car outside and move on to the wiring. Weather permitting.

It's getting there!

(There are lots more pictures in our albums ...(Link).)

the reason i was asking is wont this mixture possibly freeze?
Would you also mix in some anti freeze/coolant into the system??
I have seen systems where the WW mix will freeze.....

Lol, thanks, guys.

Though, watching from the front row as I have been here, I can unequivocally say it has not been easy, despite any appearances to the contrary.

He has only had time to work this quickly because he is a stay at home dad, and has been for over a decade. But this fevered pace he has been working at is because he's now going back to work after 12 years, due to an unexpected and fabulous job offer he received. So his days of being able to devote full time to his baby are about to come to an end.
