You should be able to go with the .095 since you should be way under 3000lbs. Hell you might even be the lightest 928 racer on record! Dump the rear hatch and windows, side windows, all lights, bumper shocks, maybe even the bumpers themselves.

What is the first date / location you are targeting?
Some of us need to schedule time off in advance...

Hey everybody. my names Clint im a lemons vetran, ive been to the altamont 2008 race and the thunderhill 2008 race. i helped build the Black metal

I work at Evil Genius Racing (EGR) in west sacramento, im the one that is building the cage in Brians ( IcemanG17) '89 S4 and has done the rest of the fabrication work. id love to help you guys out, but seeing as you guys are on the opposite side of the country i cant really come over for a build night, but if you have any questions that an experienced fabricator/ lemon racer could answer im here. also not to sound like im trying to push my shops business on you but we are possibly going to build some 928 cage kits, we build spec miata and E30 kits all which are top notch NASA and SCCA legal. so if you want a sweet cage, i can help you out. for fab parts check out the web site: www.evilgeniusracing.com

so a few things ive seen about what you want to use:
Ra1s, they are not legal, must use 200 + wear. we used kumho anexias tires that lasted 2 full lemons races. many people ( many top cars) used them in december t-hill, they get worn in and stick well with 2.5 or so degrees of camber, my volvo should be simular on paper with a 928- 2800lbs or a bit more, around 55%= weight up front.
brakes, go stock, they will be fine you are not exceeding 100mph, the tracks are set up to keep you slow, get some porterfield/hawk pads and your good. the volvo had 4 pots and twins in back with turbo vented rotors so id consider them better than a early 928 set up and we never got them hot.
if you bring and 928 to lemons and it doesnt look like it has been throught a garbage disposal it will be inspected more than normal, we take suspeceted expensive cars off to the side and remove valve covers, wheels or what ever to see if you have expensive parts inside like coil overs or roller rockers ( not aplicable in a 928 case but you know) the way to get past the BS inspection is to have really good documentation and a good story, who cares if its fake, if it makes Phil and Jonny laugh and like you, you will pass
Lemons used to be a high contact sport in some tracks like altamont ( i was there when Court somerfield died in his volvo 242) our volvo got hammered! our 15mm thick aluminum bumpers got twisted and smashed, many cars didnt make it long so keeping the bumper gaurds is a good idea.
since the altamont accident things calmed down, at thunder hill we got 3 door dings ( we did wreak into the k wall during practice from broken power steering but thats another story) but you cant add brush gaurds or any heavy metal beyond the factory car outline, bumpers help push those slower cars out of the way
Strip everything out, everything, glass is not needed except for the windshield, you dont need a dash, maybe a defrost if its cold out. installing a large fuel tanks is a really really good idea, races have been won and lost on pitting for fuel. most lemons winners only pit once or twice in 16hrs
again you wont be going very fast so a wing may not do much but dont bother with a oem one, make one to avoid BS and and fun the to the cars look, remember lemons car are supposed to be weird or outrageous, Jay loves that, you want jay to love it and yes beer in the trunk help the Bs inspection

I will surely take you up on your offer of answering questions. I have been tasked with fabbing the cage and the paint job. I will have some questions when it's time to build the cage. We were thinking about a satin black rustoleum paint job with a white jolly roger painted on the car. Do you think that would make the car look too nice? Right now it is silver and rust. It was actually used as a chicken coop for a couple of years.

I will surely take you up on your offer of answering questions. I have been tasked with fabbing the cage and the paint job. I will have some questions when it's time to build the cage. We were thinking about a satin black rustoleum paint job with a white jolly roger painted on the car. Do you think that would make the car look too nice? Right now it is silver and rust. It was actually used as a chicken coop for a couple of years.

Then, this evening, I installed a new coolant expansion tank on the widebody in hopes that I could drive that down to Sebring tomorrow. Well, during the pressure test I found that both side tanks on my adiator are now leaking.
So to make a long story short, I don't know if I'm coming tomorrow. I only have the 84 to drive and I really wanted to bring something different. If the go karts were in operation i would make the trip, but with no go karts, the decision is a little more difficult.

Since it's an Ex-Chicken Coop car, guess you can mount the rubber chicken inside the 'B' pillar of the roll cage as part of the helmet cushion for any driver's side impacts. Strap the chicken to the outside of the roll cage foam.
