Well........................
Bring it to SITM! I'm hoping Chicken Little WILL be there!

I finally have time to install the heads today! I should have Chicken Little running and ready for Fabio sometime next week...
Now - if I can resist powder coating everything...
The "new to me" '85 Euro took front seat for a couple of weeks.
I refreshed and powder coated the intake, changed her fuel and vacuum hoses, rebuilt the brake master and 10" booster (that was fun and I will do a write up), and changed all her fluids.... blah blah blah

I'm working with Chicken Little this week and the sooner she is done - the sooner I can get back to my other cars
I still hope to get my baby - the 86.5 "Bear-ly Legal" - done in time for SITM!

Firemed - I just ran across this thread linked form another thread. Couldn't figure out a way to PM you on Rennlist. I'm a relatively new 928 owner but long time Nissan Z wrencher and pretty decent back yard mechanic (swapped engines, pulled trans, upgraded turbos, etc., plus allthe basic stuff). Had a heck of a time finding 928 guys in FL that actually work on their cars (tried contacting some guys through 928OC with no luck).

Not sure where you are in FL but I'm in Gainesville. If you aren't too far away and want some volunteer time and an extra set of hands to help on anything let me know. I'm still reading through all the Porsche FSMs and learning how Porsches "think" but I learn pretty quickly.

You can reach me at cmickler@mactec.com if interested. Thanks and good luck with the project.

First, let me welcome you to the 928 community. You will enjoy it if you keep the right attitude and never add up your reciepts.

Second, you have stumbled upon the key to FL 928 wrenching in this area. Firemed, 928tt, Tampa928, Tarek and myself have a pretty good group going when it comes to fixing and saving these cars. There are also a few wrenchers in S. FL but its such a drive that we normally don't see too much of them up this way. There are also a couple of guys over neer Kissimmee but they are inactive at the moment. As far as wrenchers in Gainsville, you might want to cantact MGW Florida ( Mel Ward ) and ask him if he knows anyone up there. I know there was a gentleman in Pensacola (Mark ) but I can't remember his screen name right now. Mel is the leader of the FL chapter of the 928 owners club and will be able to steer you in the right direction.

Thanks for bumping our thread.

well unforunatley the $200 car never was delivered as we couldnt find the real owner and some other BS, so we picked up a '80 Euro that had hit a deer, it looked solid and after a revival and fuel pump she ran great but had a oil into coolant leak, in the radiator or head i dont know so it was bought back by the owner, good riddance really. too much to go wrong on that one, well this week is the buttonwill race. my newly rebuild and re tuned v8 volvo should be a real contender. wish us luck!!!

Default 84 Gas tank leak

I gave $300 for the old '78 Euro auto - I can sell the headlights, the pod, and a few other parts, (very few cause I can't think of ANYTHING else worth money on the car that isn't in my parts bins.) and think this might be a fun venture.
As much as I would hate to see the old Euro destroyed - I'd love even more to see her win!

The car would need some old race seats and harness, drivers, suits, a ratty roll cage, probably the Fabio "camo" spray paint he wanted to do, and whatever.

I'm watching the schedule

http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/events/

The car is in Florida and I would love to figure out a way to tow a trailer with spare tires and rims

Any thoughts are welcome... Don't bother with the "your nut's dude" I already know that!
Hello I'm new to Rennlist and one of the guys in the Tampa Bay area thought you could to help me with a leak I have in the fuel tank. Is about 1/4 long way at the bottom right next to the strap. I loosened the strap the plastic when back into itself and closed the leak itself. I had over tightened the strap. What type of sealer can I use to go over that small leak to buy me sometime with it? eventually do you know where I could find a fuel tank? Thanks for the advise!

Fabian,

There is a white permatex type of sealant that is compatable with fuel. I'll try to find the brand and model # for you.

Edit: Found it!! Its Dow Corning RTV-730

The above fix was reccomended to a Porsche racing team by Goodyear. The team had a leaky fuel bladder in a 935 race car used this as a fix. This comes from Bruce Anderson at Excellence Magazine April 2009 issue.

I have not heard of ANY good and permanent ways to fix a fuel tank leak besides these:

No affiliation.
Good Luck!

Thank you very much for the tip. Right now my car is at the Tampa dealership. It hydrolocked on them on fuel (we think or hope so instead of water) and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them. Very stressful situation because they released the car to me (twice in a week) saying that I had an oil separation problem and that it was causing the huge amounts of smoke while all along I was getting a cylinder wash on 6 and 7. Lucky for me I guess it hydrolocked on their lot when I was bringing it back to them for the second time. Wish me luck Thanks again for the tip.

Just an FYI the Dow Corning 730 tube sealant in a 3 OZ tube is about 90.00
This sealant is also good for sealing the ends of the cam covers where the caps meet the head and the rubber gasket fills in the corner.
This is in regards to the 32V engines.
If you have a cracked tank i would not put in more than 5 gallons, and I would park the car away from any buildings till the tank has been replaced

It's pretty funny that Vick is now playing in Philadelphia.
