I have a Backyard Buddy 4 post, 7k pound max, 17' long with 7' under ramp height so I can walk underneath with knocking my gord. Paid ~$4k delivered 4 yrs ago and it was worth every penny. They are not fun people to deal with but have a great product and in spite of their lack of CS I would have another.

I'm shopping now, and I'm half way between the Bend-Pak assymetric 10K capacity at about $2600, and one of the cheap Asian imports at $1800. Here in earthquake country, that extra bit of US quality could make a big difference, especially if mrs dr bob's hubby happens to be nearby. Plus, the Bend-Pak is made within an hour of here, so I can put a car hauler on the back of the 4Runner and pick the thing up at the source, saving some aggravation with getting a truck with a crane and a liftgate up here to the house on the hill.

I have a "Quality" brand 10K lb lift. A friend sold about 4-5 kinds of lifts, including Rotary to the auto dealers in our area, and recommended this as the best value. Steel is made in Korea, everything else is made in USA. I've had it two years (2 post, assymetric), and I really like it. arms are great for everything from my Alfa spider through the 928's, and on to the Mercedes 560. I think it was about

I got mine from Eagle Equipment Company in Greensboro NC. It's a Mechanix 12k-lb 2-post. I got it for $2600 delivered. It was on special and was normally $3600, but that was the only one they had. They carry several different models.

I'll have one next week.
I'm getting a Direct Lift Pro Park 8 Plus from Greg Smith Equipment for $1995. They have a location a few miles from me so I'll be saving the shipping cost but will have to pay 6% state tax.

I have had a cheap Chinese junk 4-post lift for 3 years or so purchased from Greg Smith Equipment. Zero problems with it. The design has been improved to provide more secure locking, like the Backyard Buddy.

However, the Backyard Buddy type is worth looking at.

Also, there is another company that sells the same design as the BYB for less.

If you go 4-post, get a sliding jack so you can do wheel work. 2-post lifts are superior for this but require more side room than I have in my garage.

Danmar, <1 year used from Craigslist - $1200. I replaced all the no-grade bolts with one size larger grade 8, and greased everything up.
I have it installed in the driveway next to the house (never used space), on precast 16"x16"x4" concrete pads, over packed crushed rock. It's very stable. I'm going to put a cover down the middle, and it will be a carport when not in use.
Having a lift is so much fun!
