This younger generation stuff reminds me of a 84 928S I almost bought in Ft Worth several years ago...
I drove from OKC down there to see the car. It was very well kept and priced right at $10K. The owner let me drive it only in his neighborhood, then took me for a ride in 5 o'clock traffic in downtown Ft Worth. Scared the beegeebees out of me as he hit 150 several times and braked hard to keep from rear ending the car in front. All the while he was leaned against the door driving one handed and calmly talking about keeping the car well maintaing because he used the car to drive really fast to Baton Rouge and back to spend just the evening gambling.
Anyway, he talked a lot about the young people today and how you couldn't trust them, and how they didn't keep their word. We made a handshake deal on the car and came home to make arrangements to go pay for and pick up the car. When I had made arrangements and called to let him know I was leaving OKC to come get the car, he backed out of the deal. I just thought it was kind of ironic how he had just done the one thing he was complaining about the youth of today doing.
Turned out Okay though, I ended up with a really really nice 90 GT.

From the 1st Fawlty Towers:
"Now that the awful truth has sunk into Basil's brain, a dish best served cold is a late addition to the menu. Walking through from the office to reception to attend to some genuine class in the shape of Sir Richard Morris and his good Lady wife, he soon spots “His Lordship” coming down stairs and decides that a bit of sarcasm and derision is in order before he lets fly with the physical violence (if he can catch the trickster)! When asked by Melbury if Basil would still like his coin collection valued by the equally fictitious Duke of Buckleigh, Basil sarcastically informs that the Duke is dead — “got ’is ’ead knocked orf by a golf ball, tragic!” Basil grabs Melbury's cheeks and asks him if he's “alright me old mucker!”, Melbury realises he has been rumbled and takes off through the lobby with “You BASTARD!!!” ringing in his ears courtesy of a livid Basil Fawlty!"

Regarding the younger generation, I too was growing more and more disillusioned with them, but I really didn't know too many of them. Just the random interaction in the local name tag employee type fast food places and stores.
Now that my kids are 9 & 11, I'm meeting more and more of the teenagers and I have to say, its been great. They are great kids, smart, respectful, hardworking, fun to be around, and yes, foolish and even disrespectful at times. But overall, I think we're in good hands with them when its their time to lead.
And I recently saw a documentary type show on the vets in Iraq and one of the older soldiers commented on how our enemies were convinced our young soldiers were soft and would not fight. He pointed out how wrong they were. Our young vets have proved their courage and honor.
So, don't let the bad apples get you down, take the time to get to know the younger kids. They may dress funny, and many of the older ones have tattoes and piercings (wtf?!), but overall, they're great kids.
And yes, drugs are a real black hole for many, and unfortunatley, their friends and family get sucked into it too.
Ed
ps: Bigs and everyone else involved, I'm really sorry to hear about this turn of events.
pss: Faulty Towers - oh my god, I used to stay in a hotel in Windsor in the UK that must have been the inspriation for the show. Ha ha...

You all can **** and moan about the younger generation. But most of you should remember that you are the parents of the younger generation and like it or not, parents are still the primary influence on their offspring for the first 20 years of their lives. So if you think that kids are failures at responsibilities, then you should consider your failures as parents.

The current "younger generation" is no worse than the last few, mine included. I meet a lot of kids that are useless and I meet a lot more that are a real delight.
On the other hand, look at our current deficits and economy and tell me what's so darned fine about our generation. Seems like we've made a big enough mess of things to have a little humility about "the younger generation".
This is in no way intended as a defense of Ross.

As much as I had resisted the reality that we had been taken. I guess its time to face the facts and realize it. I sent him 150.00 and man I just feel had. I am embarrised that I stuck up for him in other threads. I feel like a complete idiot..... Theft by deception.....

1. You should shirk responsibility.
2. You should manipulate people.
3. You should take advantage of people.
4. And you should for sure use drugs.
Oh. Wait. Do you think that some children may actually use their free agency to reject and rebel against their parents' teachings?
Do you have children of your own?

I think the younger generation is pampered. Just look at the technology we have now. I'm 49 years old. As a kid we had 4 TV channels in black and white that went off the air at mid night, probably 15 vinyl albums to listen to and no one had a computor....today most homes are so loaded with luxury items we deem necessary that kids don't want to leave home. The feeling of wanted independence doesn't seem to there...hell I couldn't wait to leave home. Not because I hated my parents...I just want to live life like an adult. Now days I think its harder for them to "downgrade" to adult life.

1. Me................... $487.00
2. Shark Attack...... $150.00
3. medipedicman... $50.00
4. And Kie - who gave Ross $750 cash as part of the deal!
So, our current grand total is: $1437.00!
And I'm still wondering who got his bike out of impound!

I have much faith in young people. I was once a younger person, (still am).
Maybe we should have more faith in young people and they will feel compelled to live up to our belief in them. Ross may be the exception, but there are always exceptions. Look what younger people have already contributed to this world and what they are demanding we change. They can wait for older people to move out of the way, but some are not so patient and go off to institute corrective behaviour already. After all, who else can we trust to take over??
