Benz did good with those, as much a work of art as any 928 in my opinion. Beautiful car Bigs.

Thank you! I think this is one of the few convertibles that looks as nice with the top up as with the top down - and vice versa. For example, I think the AM Vantage is a gorgeous car... as a coupe. But I think the convertible top ruins the lines. I even feel kind of the same way about the 911 variants. The lines of the coupe just flow better than the lines of the soft top. Just my 2 cents...

And I also love, love LOVE the color! Whenever I just browse through SL listings online, virtually every freaking car is either black, white, or some shade of gray/silver. Over and over again - black, white, or gray.

I just fell pretty hard for this color!

Man, I'm sorry, it's purty and all that... but it ain't no 928. I mean, how much do you know about this benz? A 928 you just know what's up, given your long history with the breed. Do you really want to crowd your noodle with a bunch of non-relevant, non-928 facts and figures? I mean, they make pretty good trannies, but do you really want to drive one?

You can take the man out of the 928.. but you can't take the 928 out of the man

These days I too find white/black/silver insanely boring, and lust for the rarer unusual colours as found on many 928s.

I even find myself admiring small hatchbacks when they're painted in awesome metallic greens, blues, and other off-shades.

Buy a GTS, pick up Garrity and head to Green Bay for a supercharger install weekend.

I haven't seen him in like...20 years. Would be fun.

Hey, it looks like Ross has cleaned up his act! No arrests since last July!

I know, that's probably because they have had him locked up since then.

Yeah, the original incident was very unfortunate. I was one who felt inclined to trust him initially and got burned for a few bucks myself.

Don't know much about the whole issue with Ross, but bigs, I LOVE your SL55! The color is gorgeous. I've always been a fan of the dark metallic reds. We have a Designo Graphite SL55, and it's just a spectacular car... and addictive to drive.

Bigs, that is a SWEET ride.

That is one of the few modern cars I would love to own. Very nice pics too. That one with the mountain in the back is a postcard.

Good luck with it.

Yes it is indeed addictive to drive! Who needs booze or drugs when you've got an SL55??

But I must admit, I don't quite have the visceral love affair with it that I've had with my 928's. Don't quite know what it is about the damn sharks...

I think it goes clear back to the very first time I saw a 928 - way back in the days of square cars with creased fenders and bolted-on bumpers... Holy crap - I though I'd just seen an alien spaceship up close and personal - and a gorgeous one at that!

I don't think that feeling of stunned awe has ever left me in regards to the 928.

Thanks, Mike. It's a 2003, so I think Mercedes did a pretty nice job coming up with a timeless design too. She now still has only 43K on the clock.

Jeez, Mike, with that stable in your avatar, SURELY you need someone to exercise one o' them steeds on a regular basis. Send one - any one - to me and I'll do you the favor!

No, no - no thanks necessary. It's a rotten job, but SOMEONE's gotta do it! And that's just the kind of noble and self-sacrificial guy I am!!!

What a great line "...I think it goes clear back to the very first time I saw a 928 - way back in the days of square cars with creased fenders and bolted-on bumpers... Holy crap - I though I'd just seen an alien spaceship up close and personal - and a gorgeous one at that! ..."
Pretty much sums it up for those who LOVE the 928, something about it has to make you smile. You either get it or you don't and there is no explaining it to those who don't.

I get what you mean about the love affair with the 928. To me, no other car really compares. Even if one were to be parked next to a mint Ferrari 250 GT California at a car show, I'd probably give more attention to the 928. When I first saw one (Risky Business) I immediately fell in love with it... then when I saw one in person, well... I had to have one!

Sorry to go so off topic.
