Default Shorty headers

Didn't know they sold them, they are only listed under 90-91 GT 928 on this website. I would imagine they will fit any, what about OB's? In searching for headers on here I never saw mention of them so I thought I would share.

It would be cool if it's for real. I'd like a set. I can't seem to find it on the Pacesetter website, just no-name drop ship websites.

Odd that it's listed for 90-91. All S4-up are the same, and can be retrofitted to S3, and even 16V with a little work.

They are only 1 5/8" primaries but unless you are over 300rwhp generally that is enough. Pretty darn cheap too at 340 buck coated and everything... I seeem to remember on, and i realize this is a completely different car, ls1 cars shorties dont do a whole hell of a lot, sometimes practically nothing. Is this even worth bothering? How bad are stock manifolds? I have an 86 btw.

BTW by retrofit to the s3, will it plop right in or take some other means to make them work like the earlier cars?

Bummer. It's a typo/database error.

The S4 manifolds have three bolts per exhaust port vs. two for 16V/S3. I think you have to cut the extra bolt hole boss off, and IIRC, some other small fixes to fit the S3.

BLAST! How poor are the 85-86 manifolds? I heard they are much better than the early stuff but that doesnt say a whole lot...

The stock 85-86 SS manifolds are pretty good. They could be better made for flow, and with a bit larger ID, I think they (shorty headers) could make nearly as much power as full length headers, without the clearance issues.

(The 16V cast iron manifolds are heavy, but with a little porting flow quite well.)

I think something like 15-20%? Especially on the 16v cars. Those manifolds suck. I'll post back when I dyno my car in the next couple weeks.

God no not that much.

It was like 10hp. I got as much gain with the straight pipes, but it was additive.

the equal lengh headers gave me another 10hp.

However, on the holbert car we did 292rwhp and it jumped to 334rwhp with the equal length headers, tune up, coding plug, air box mod, straight through exhaust, and new ignition parts.
