Don't worry, the motor will be fine.

Sounds awesome. Great job Mark and Bill......and everyone else involved in the Rennlist motor. When Mark pulled out I was half expecting a Bill Ball smoke cloud.
Alright, spill the beans. How did it feel on the ***-O-Meter. Strong?

IT RUNS!!! and runs well!
Thank you 928 List members for all the support and encouragement!
The car is REALLY strong. So strong that it pull in second, it reminded me of the orginial Holbert engine in 1st
Later i took Scot out for a quick cruise on the highway. Im trying to vary the rpms and keep it running, while giving it some heat cycles. after a few, I did a compression test. 210psi on #6 and #1. I mean dead on 210psi! So Scot and I ran on the hyway. I couldnt resist to bring the stop watch to do a quick 60mph to 80mph, (as you all know about my 60-100 tests) I didnt want to do any WOT tests yet, but I just couldnt resist. whats the harm in a little 3500 to 5000rpm test. Let me tell you, this car gets out!! usually the holbert car, even at its best, was 2.9 seconds 60-80 and 3 seconds 80-100. The Stroker Holbert ran 60-80 in just under 2 seconds. UNBELIEVABLE! I had to do it again to make sure. yep, another 1.85 second segment. Then, on the way home I tried a 4th gear run at a very low rpm. 3.2 seconds for 60-80mph.
Turns out the Stroker Holbert is as fast in 4th gear as the original was in 3rd.
I would be willing to bet the average power is proportion higher. 4.5:1 vs 4th 3.2:1, that's a 40% increase. My guess would be 395rwhp
Anyway, it runs , idles and no pinging.
Head gaskets are sealed, and no leaks.
Let's see how this week goes. next week, ill put a few hundred miles on it too, and go to the dyno before the race over labor day at Sears.
Thanks again all!! And enormous thanks to Bill Ball who spent some of the worst back breaking work over a few evenings to get the job done. I hope we can remember the notes so no one has to repeat our mistakes in process which added several hours to the already long project. Thanks Bill!

Mark, Congratulations on this great, great build.
Several of us long distance bystanders just watched the first drive video of the stroker. Awesome sound. Can't wait for some raceday footage. Am wondering how your competition will deal with the new Holbert car!

I forgot to thank Tim and Todd for putting together the engine that was really needed for this project. Everything down to the right rings to match the Nikasil block was done to perfection. There was no piston slap on first start up. Just a powerful big bore, stroke, 928 motor!
