Default PCA Sponsorship - Shine and Show Concours

A little more good news. We are being sponsored by the Peachstate Region of the the PCA. They are making a generous contribution which will be used to cover the cost of food and drink during the event. I'm thinking pizza and wings for lunch and brats, burgers and beer for afterwards at home. Hmm, not very healthy, eh? Maybe we'll pick up some fruits and veggies too.

As part of their sponsorship, the PCA asks that we hold at least one competitive event and suggested a shine and show concours. Sounds good to me. It'll be people's choice. Everyone attending will have one vote for their favorite 928 at the event and there will be one winner who will receive a trophy supplied by the PCA. I'll have plenty of stuff for cleaning and polishing at home so no need to bring a bucket unless you prefer to use your own.

Good luck to all.

Talking A Week to Go - Map and Directions

We're just a week away.

The map and directions below will get you to our house from I-85. I'd like everyone to meet at home in the morning so we can get a few pics and caravan to the dyno shop and European Classics. Anytime after 7:30 is fine. We'll have a fresh pot of coffee ready. We need to be on the way to the dyno shop at 9:45.

Anyone arriving later can go straight to the shop. The address and # for European Classics is - 2644 B Steve Dr. Doraville, GA. 30340 - 770-409-9246. The dyno shop, Lamar Walden Automotive, is at 6- B Steve Dr. Doraville, Ga. 30340 - 770-449-0315 and directly across the street from European Classics.

I can't wait to see some old friends and meet some new ones. Don't forget to bring the family along. Anyone that's thinking of making a weekend out of it may want to check out Malibu Grand Prix. It's only 3 miles from home. Anyone up for some cart racing Saturday night or Sunday?

Mike,

I'm still planning on bringing my car and trailer to your house Friday evening if that's ok.

Thanks for setting this event up!

Hi Abby,
Yes, we're expecting you. If anyone else wants to park at the house overnight, you're welcome to. We have plenty of room and bulldog surveillance.

For anyone planning a dip in the pool, rest assured that our lifeguard/mascot is on duty 24/7. He has maintained a perfect safety record to date.

I won't be able to make it unfortunately (at least not with a running car). I just got home yesterday and I am flying out Tuesday and returning Saturday. The earliest I can be there is about 5 pm but that is with my car on a trailer, lol. My job has kept me pretty busy the last few months and I have not had time to finish the TB job. When I took the belt off I did it at 0 degree TDC and the cam gears moved when I took the belt off. I reinstalled them and I can't get the damn thing to line up. Each time its 1 tooth off. If you will have any 928 guru's that can line it up at the GTG I will be glad to pay for their service and of course if there will be their till late. :-). Sorry for the hijack.

Hi Gio,
I expect that there will be several people that could help but I can't speak for what time they're planning to leave. I know of a few that I consider experts that will be there. (Wally P., Mike S., John P.) I'll send an email to these three guys and see what they say. You and anyone that is willing to help are welcome to use my garage and tools as long as you need. I'll be glad to turn a wrench to help if I can.

I'll talk to Howard and see if he would be willing to take a look at it that late in the day. When I last spoke to him, he was planning to close the shop at 5:00 but he's helped me out in a pinch before. He may be willing to do it again.

Gio,
I heard from John Pirtle. He will be at the GTG but he said that cam alignment was something he wasn't experienced in. Like me, he said he would love to see first hand how it's done. No response from anyone else yet. I won't be able to get in touch with Howard until Tuesday unless he checks this thread. I introduced him to Rennlist but I'm not sure how often he's online. Will you be online while you're out of town? If not, PM me with a way to contact you with any new info.

Hey Mike,

I have Porken's cam alignment so we may not need to go the old fashioned way with a dial caliper. I have the car on the trailer set and ready to go. I am trying to change my return flight so I can fly in a little earlier on Saturday. I have access to internet while I'm gone but I will email you my cell phone just in case.

Thank you Mike and John,

Gio

It looks like we're going to have a couple of race cars to ogle during dyno day. Abby is bringing his as mentioned in post #65 and Mike Simard will also be trailering his to the event. Mike's not planning to dyno his because he is going to be swapping the engine soon. Of course, I'm trying to talk him into running it anyway.

Don't you want to know what it's putting down before you put the new engine in, Mike? Just for the sake of comparison (and so we can see and hear it run.)

I hope this weather outlook gets better!
Can someone please make the Hurricane take a turn due East?
