Peachstate 928 Dyno Day - Sept. 6th
Sept. 6th at Lamar Walden Automotive and European Classics
I have found a local shop to host an Atlanta area dyno session. Even better, the shop is right next door to European Classics. Howard Wright, the owner of European Classics, knows as much about the 928 as anyone on the planet. His credentials are impressive to say the least. Check 928 Motorsports' website and you'll see he's the only one listed in Ga. for their installations. Howard has generously agreed to open his shop for us and host a tech session.
Everyone is welcome to come to our house in the morning. I'll be posting a map and directions when the date gets closer. The dyno runs begin at 10:00 so we'll be leaving for the shop at 9:45. We'll take a break for lunch when we get hungry and stroll to European Classics for a quick tech session, then back to the dyno shop to finish the dyno runs. Finally, we'll all caravan 6 miles back to the house for refreshments, a game of pool, and a dip in the pool if you want to cool off. Drawings for door prizes will take place throughout the day thanks to 928s R Us and T-shirts will be handed out thanks to the 928 OC, one per 928 first come first served.
I'll be hooking up a fresh keg in the kegerator.
Bring the family. Anyone that doesn't want to spend the day in the shop is welcome to lounge around the pool at home.
We have extra room for a few out of towners that might not want to brave the ride home after the festivities.
Please send me a PM or email me at mc.holdfast(at)comcast.net and let me know if you plan to run your car on the dyno. Hopefully everyone that wants can run but we do have a limit of 25 cars. So far we have 13 confirmed for the dyno.

Great. It's encouraging to see some interest from neighboring states. This could get big.
The dyno shop owner has already asked how many cars to expect. I told him that right now I couldn't even guess. The more the better as far as I'm concerned.
Abby, the schedule is wide open at this point. I'd love to have you here and see the Coke car on the dyno. Let me know what works best for you.
I'll keep everyone posted as we work out the details.

I'll be at Road Atlanta August 15-16-17 for a DE.
My Turbo 928 is in Cincinnati having some things sorted out and I am planning to pick it up toward the end of August if all goes well. I'd love to bring both however doubt the Turbo Shark will be done before the end of August. So if you decide to go with August just keep in mind I've got the DE mentioned above. If you push it to September the chances are better for me to have both. Either way I am interested in getting both of the cars strapped down and will bring whatever I have ready.

I'd be interested in bring my race car depening on the date. I won't be able to go anytime after August 12th or 13th, though, so I know that is pushing it as far as how soon it could be. I need to dyno the car sometime in the relatively near future.

A little more info.
I spoke with the dyno shop owner. He says he wants to limit it to 25 cars but may go a few more. The price will be $40.00 per car with 2 or 3 pulls each which is up to us. This is a third of what they normally charge. They've done the same for the local Corvette Club so he knows the routine.
I'm still working on the date but I'm shooting for Sept. 6th.
Sorry, Red. 8/12-13 is too soon. I hope you can find a way to make a later date work for you.

Whoa! Just saw the thread, looks like a lot of fun. I'm in, would love a chance to baseline my car before I start doing unspeakable things to it. I remember the last one I went to (rx7 club) we all stood around watching the runs and saying only true gearheads would consider this a spectator sport. LOL

I was wondering when you'd chime in. Glad you can make it. The best part is that if anyone gets tired of watching the dyno, they can walk across the street to Howard's shop. It's a Porsche enthusiast's playground. The last time I was there he had two 928s in the shop and four or five in the lot out back. One of the one's in the shop was there for a full interior and under hood restoration. It was a military retiree's retirement present to himself. At the time, the entire interior, dash and all, had been removed. Scary looking stuff.
It's surprising that so far there's been as much interest from Tennessee as Georgia. Where's the rest of the Atlanta folks?

We will be in Savannah visiting family from the 3rd through the 8th. I could just leave a lifesize picture of my self and jump on 16, they will never miss me, my uncle never lets anyone else speak anyway.
