I'd go with it, you can get all your parts in ONE place. And DR isn't going to steer you wrong.

Sorry James, I forgot these cars are pigs. I should have added the wider rubber suggestion with the front bar stuff. I'm used to my car right now, I have more grip than I know what to do with. I forget the 928's were chronically under-tired.

The tire size is GREAT for A-bahn blasts past 160, but they SUCK on tight race tracks!

Not sure i would call that "Exotic"

Different for sure, but weren't those notoriously crappy cars? V6 mid engine right? I think Clarkson had one in a Top Gear challenge. I am not surprised if it lives in a mechanics shop.

Styx, bring that car up to us and we can get it sorted out. The timing belt water pump will cost you a bit more than $400.00 only, and I mean only if all of your rollers and cam gears are in great shape. If you can get everything done for that price, kick ***, but please watch what they do. Parts for a TB/WP job alone will be close to $500.00 if all the cam gears, rollers are in great shape. Depending on how the tensioner is, it could cost more.

The Porken tensioner is a great piece of equipment, and you won't have to worry about it for many thousands of miles. I just put one on a GTS that is headed your way.

We have our next gathering of North Texas guys on Aug 2nd and would more than welcome you to it. Always looking for more shark owners that really want to learn the cars.

James can verify, we won't steal the car from you unless it is really sweet

for the money you were considering spending on GTS front brakes, i would put that towards a new interior.

If you have any experience with paint you can get a ton of shine back by buffing and polishing.

I would also get yourself on fresh belts and other mechanicals first.

^^^^^^
+1000 on that... Screw the brakes, you need a complete interior in that car! YEOW! The place to start are front seats and steering wheel. Then at least tuck the leather back in around the rear A/C unit. Next rear seats and rear a/c leather. Then the REALLY HARD STUFF... pull the dash and pod and fix those...

I would get some paint cleaner and polish after the paint and you will be good to go on the exterior. Personally I like those wheels...I use the D90 GT wheels (7.5" front, 9" rear) on my S4 for track events. Put some R compound tires on it and zoom, zoom, zoom!

Good luck on the interior resto. That is hard work and the sun and heat are SO bad down in the valley where you are I am not surprised at all to see the interior like that... None of the full leather interiors take the heat well and even the S4 non-full leathers can get pretty beat up!

Yes sir the interior needs to be restored ASAP. I will be getting some D90 wheels from Oklahoma Foreign they have what I'm looking for I also have a brand new set of Fusion ZR tires. I'm going to start taking this car apart and begin the long road ahead. Here is what I plan to do first before anything will be the timing belt for peace of mind. Also my cooling system is very messed up sometimes one fan works and the other does not. Seems the switch to connect fan is broken and doesn't fully make contact I have 2 new fans that I have from 928 Intl I also have a new O2 sensor ready to be installed. I'm also going need new shocks as they are too worn and severely hurt my tires

. As soon as I get this done I will start taking the interior apart. It smells awful it really does and the padding from the back of the carpet is peeling off and its everywhere. I have two questions for you guys that done the interior restoration. My passenger seat is stuck all the way back appears its missing part of the cable how can i take it out I tried moving to the front manually with an Allen ,but it’s very stuck. Also, sound deadening what can I do about that I love hearing the sound of my car ,but sometimes road noise is too much its annoying especially when I'm trying to drive around with my sunglasses listening to the Miami Vice theme song. Well, not really I've only did that twice I really love the 80's =D

It smells and the carpets are bad because of a leak somewhere. Classically around the sun roof that then flows down or actually drips down onto the seat. You will need to check the rubber seals as well as the drain holes at the back of the roof that go out the outside part of the hatch.

As for wheels:

YOU CAR IS PICTURED WITH DESIGN 90 WHEELS! I would say a set from OK-F will be used and not in like new condition...so, you might think about something else and send yours off for a refinish or something, but you already have D90's... My personal preference are any/all of the most recent 5 spoke carrera wheels... Go for those if you want a new set of wheels, but I would spend the money on the inside before messing w/ the wheels at all.

Good luck and I look forward to the results of your hard work!

You are missing one of the power motor cables. There should be one going to each rail from the motor in the center (like the large black one on the left side in your picture). There may be something jammed in the seat track, just get a flashlight and check the seat tracks (probably it's a coin stuck in there). Also check the motor gear and see if there are any broken teeth.

Lay in some DynaMat when you put in new carpet. DynaMat blocks sound and heat, it is good stuff. It has an adhesive backing, so it is easy to install.

The bad odor may be coming from moisture getting under the rear seats from a leaking hatch lid. When you wash the car does water drip from the seam at the top of the hatch lid?

I need D90s cause mine are chrome and beyond repair also when I got my car it was three different kind of wheels 2 7x16 1 8x16 and 1 9x16. I already have the new tires to fit to 2 7x16 2 8x16. Its why I want to go with D90s again refinished from OK-F they said $1100 for refinished set in 7X16 and 8X16.

I haven't seen any leaks anywhere, Its very very harsh carpet and the leather smells bad. Thanks for the recommendation on the road noise.

as for wheels, sit tight

watch the boards here. You will find all sorts of Cup I's Cup II's with used tires for $750 ish. D90's will run you about $500 here on the list. I WOULD NOT PAY $1100 for D90's! They are way to common and the ones you will get from OKF will probably be from a 964 or something.

Just sit tight with $1000 in hand you will come across a much nicer set of wheels here on Rennlist. You see the wheels in my avatar? They are perfect, i got them on this board for less then what your D90's would cost you from OKF.

Cheers

The other common place for a leak is from the AC flap just above the electric panel in the passenger footwell - when the AC drain gets blocked beneath the blower, it floods into the compartment there. Check for any sign of water above the elec panel - it can wreak havoc if the relays get wet.

Also your car will look $1m better with a good cut and polish - Guards Red has no clear coat, so the oxidation can be polished right off.

On the wheels, +1 to everyone above's posts. The 8 inch D90 rears you mention are probably from a 964 - the 928 D90's were 9" rear.

If its not too late, cancel the order and post a wanted thread here, or keep an eye on Cragslist. If you want a decent looking cheap option you can usually find some 17" boxster twists with ET55 fronts for about $400 a set, and use the balance to get an exterior detail, or decent-quality carpet kit or something else towards your interior.

I love the lack of rub strips.. looks very smooth! Its on my list of things to do when I'm ready to get the car re-painted.
