Default Laser Jammers work on the 928 - Saved my ***!

On my way back from the Taj Ma Garaj today (BTW, what a cool place. John Dixon is an incredible host! More on that later...) I was about 5 minutes from home doing about 75-80 in a 55. I was leading the pack of cars that had left a stoplight about a half a mile back. All of a sudden, the V1 goes friggen bizerk and the Blinder M-25 starts screaming too.

I was coming up on an overpass, but I didn't see anyone there. It was also near an airport, so I was wondering if maybe I was getting something from there, but probably not. Then I spotted him about 1000' down the road hiding behind a shrubery. This all happened in about 7 seconds. I slowed down to 57 and he's still shooting me, then when I'm about 500' away from him, I turn off the Blinder and sure enough, as soon as I do, the V1 stops because he finally got his reading.

Then I cruised on my merry way.

Sure it cost me about $400, but it just paid for itself! I'm a very satisfied customer.

Here's a map of the action!

Awsome! We are still one small step ahead!

Enjoy while you can. Soon traffic cameras will cover the land.

I'd check on that. Its not a radar jammer - its a light jammer, if even active.

Andrew?

Laser Jammers are regulated by the FDA not the FCC like radar, but some states have outlawed them, but not in Michigan... yet.

Hi Andrew ,

where did you mount your blinder on the 928 ?
I'm thinking about to buy one too . Here in Germany the use of laser guns by the police has risen rapidly , especially in the vicinity of the AMG plant in Affalterbach ...guess why ;-)
Time to take countermeasures ....

BTW the use of mobile optical fork sensors with cameras is just normal here in Germany , no chance of evasion vastly used on autobahns ! Also in common use are high powered civil sedans with radar operated video cameras .... rearmament like in war times
Traffic lights in the cities are mostly protected by contact loops with cameras ... total observation here

Well, don't come in Canada with those thing. They are all horribly illegal and it's jail time if you get caught.

Where can you find these? DO they make a model that I can take from car to car. We travel in all three cars depending on our trips.

All-

I purchased my Blinder off Amazon.com, but radarbusters.com also carries them. I'll go and grab a few pictures of the install and post in a few minutes.

There are no federal laws in the U.S.A. that prohibit the ownership and/or operation of laser jammers.

However, some states have enacted their own laws that do prohibit the ownership and/or use of these devices. These states include: Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC.

IMHO it would be very difficult for LEO to determine if you have one unless you gave them cause for pulling you over. That's why it is important to use slow down and then turn it off so the LEO gets his reading.

The jammers do work, they give you at least some fractional time to brake to get down to 10 over or less.

I've only gotten two tickets in the couple of years I've had an Passport SR-X, once from a plane, just after I installed it, and recently, because I have been too lazy to reinstall it on my new '86.

If you have white paint, a black bra (on the car) will give you an extra measure of protection from reduced reflectivity. Dark colors are harder to get a reading on.
