If you had driven a 928, that wouldn't have happened!

Thanks Jeannie and DR again. Especially Jeannie - sucks having to work after such a long day/weekend/month. You and Pam are a troopers - thanks. Congrats on another successful event.

More eventful on the way down/up this year (i.e., traffic stop, biker threatening with a .45). But a small price to pay for such a great time.

Great seeing old friends and meeting a few new faces. But going through this thread I regret not meeting more of the Rennlist crowd. Next year.

Some shots ... first series - the great people....my wife Ann and Earnest at lunch; Andrew cleaning that very quick beast of his (try keeping up with him on the BRP ); Brett Mathews (who caravaned in "Rosie" down and back with us); Kyle (aka Shark Attack); Dave R, Pam, Jeannie, and Stan Shaw extolling the virtues of the 928 OC!

...did I say dip in the hood? I meant dip "on" the hood. At least you kept your shirt on, thank you for that. Had you not, it would have changed my feelings about that car forever!

PS. was good seeing you again!

Here's Roger calling to the gods of rain, in order to slow us down for the BRP drive so that he could keep up with the front of the pack in his GTS!

Rog needed the rain. Reminded him of home and helped his AUTO box keep up.

The proper way to scrunch a spare back into tuck-away size.

That's Firemed if you didn't get to meet him.
Waaaay Crazier than he seems on rennlist.

PS. Anyone think Mercedes will use that AO picture to promote their C class?

It looks like it was a great event (as usual). I might have to plan in advance to be sure I can make it again next year.

Carl, Bridgestone SO3'S? I had two of them like that (but more metal fuzz) a couple months ago. It appeared that my front suspension had collapsed about 1.5" more than usual after beating on it at VIR. The toe change from the inadvertent lowering is what killed them. You might want to double check ride height.

Anybody remember this car from SITM 2 years ago?

that car was originally at a salvage auction in VA Beach, sold to a local who resold it on ebay... Scott bought it and drove it down, where it promptly started having issues

That's Scott's old EURO...I remember it well...I had to drive him 2+ hours to get it and tow it back. The 4+ hours with my friend are amongst many of my fond memories of him.

It was interesting...more then a couple of times this past weekend, I caught a glimpse of someone out of the corner of my eye, and thought it was Scott...only to have reality set in.

Doc - We missed your physical presence at SITM this year - but your spirit was very much alive in all of us!

I'd like to thank Dave and Jeannie for putting on a great party. I'd also like to thank those traveling with me to and from Texas. Although I had some problems, your presence made the difficulties bearable. Thanks for allowing me to slow you down. Also, Thanks to everyone at SITM who had suggestions and thoughts about why my car was guzzling fuel and shutting itself down. Still trying to figure it out, but I made it home with just a few stops along the way.

Just a thought: Anyone want to swap fuel bills for this month?

I had a great time even though I felt like crap on Saturday. LOL

A couple of pictures.

1. Tech session.

2. John, Roger, and Jim at Banner Elk. I think those are Sterlings arms.

I kept hearing an excerpt from Top Gun in my head during our trip back. "I'm not leaving my wingman". After his car had another black belch of death with foot long flames out the tail pipe and spit I assume catalytic converter guts out onto my car at high speed, I truly thought that was the end of his trip in that car. But he pulled over, re-started the car, and was back in action the rest of the way home......

Edit: I am made of much less stern stuff. I would have turned back long before we got there.
