Visability was low on the drive to Little Siena. We had beautiful sunshine all day (very hot) and I was glad to have the rain to cool things off , but WOW, did it rain.

Default great weekend!

Thanks so much, Peggy and I had a fantastic weekend and it was great putting so many faces together, not a chance I'll actually match them with names. Total of 630 miles put on the car this weekend and it ran just great, a/c was cold and comfy (knock on wood), and no issues at all. Sorry to hear about Chris' troubles, hope everything is ok.

On the road, caravaned with Chris and Elaine Hansen and Mike and Gina McLeod (mcholdfast). That's Chris' 81 and Gina's S4, Mike is somewhere behind in the Velvet Red GT.

The Hansens, at a roadside apple/ice cream stand.

BWAAAHHHH!!!!

My kind of parking lot.

When I was a kid I had a Tonka truck...didn't look like this!

Proof we made it!

Sterling and Roger, working on John's MAF...where's John?

A forest of 928 hoods

Following Jim and Roger to the Roberts' place...damn Nissan just would NOT pull over!

Traffic jam at DR's

How to roll two tires...you should have seen what happened to the wheels that came off the car.

Thanks for the great weekend!

I'm really sorry we missed the dinner Saturday night. We went back to the hotel first to clean up a little and then got a late start down to Marion. Well we ran into the mother of all storms with HAIL the size of my thumbs! We took refuge under cover at the Grandfather Golf Club - the security guards were kind enough to let us stay for a while while the HAIL passed over. Well that took long enough and it was still raining hard, so we decided it wasn't worth the chance driving down the mountain and headed back into Banner Elk. Well we got about a mile and the HAIL started again! Luckily we were next to a bank and ducked into the drive thru lane, hiding from the HAIL again. Wow. After 15 minutes or so the storm finally blew over and we had dinner at Nick's restaurant...pretty good, but I missed the fun at Little Siena. Next year!

Thanks to David & Jeannie for putting this on. Quite a heady experience to see @100 running 928s in one place, as it was my first time there (I was without a street 928 for many years).

Great to put a face to many that I have talked/emailed with in the past. Wish I had a chance to talk to so many others...

My first real road trip with the GT, 800 miles non-stop (almost) each way. NO TICKETS and @22 mpg. Amazing how ok I felt after each drive. 928s were made for such experiences

Your 928 post ***** checking in here...

What a super time! I am totally wiped out, which means it was a great time.

We had 5 cars from Michigan go down. We stayed in Alcoa, TN on Thursday night. We arrived around 6:30PM and immediatly hit the Tail of the Dragon. There was no traffic! What a spectacular run. I captured it on video, but have not transferred it over yet. I will post it as soon as I do.

Then at 8:30AM Friday morning we drove down to the Cherohala Skyway and proceeded to drive the next 7 and a half hours on the twisties all the way to Banner Elk. What a spectacular selection of roads! I was mostly in the lead, so I don't have many pics.

We arrived in Banner Elk around 4:30 PM and saw a lot of old friends and many new faces too.

Dave, Jeannie, and Thor were, as always, wonderful hosts. It is always wonderful to see them and hang out with them. Pam and her fiance Don were also very gracious and lovely.

I'll posts pics shortly.

Twelve Months to SITM 2009!

I'll add my heartfelt thanks to the 928 Specialists' crew (including Thor!!) - it was really great getting to put together faces and people I had only met on the phone (and BTW what faces!, well maybe except for you, Dave...) and the 928 OC, and special thanks to the Boston/VA via Waynesboro group that let me tag along - what a fantastic weekend , getting to know some great folks and hanging out in one of the most beautiful parts of planet Earth!

It was parked near me, looked nice, but I didn't investigate. I am sure others know more, perhaps Tass (as he has a cab at home).
