My pace cars for the first leg of the trip from home
On the road, caravaned with Chris and Elaine Hansen and Mike and Gina McLeod (mcholdfast). That's Chris' 81 and Gina's S4, Mike is somewhere behind in the Velvet Red GT.

The Hansens, at a roadside apple/ice cream stand.

BWAAAHHHH!!!!

My kind of parking lot.

When I was a kid I had a Tonka truck...didn't look like this!

Proof we made it!

Sterling and Roger, working on John's MAF...where's John?

A forest of 928 hoods

Following Jim and Roger to the Roberts' place...damn Nissan just would NOT pull over!

Traffic jam at DR's

How to roll two tires...you should have seen what happened to the wheels that came off the car.

Thanks for the great weekend!

Great to put a face to many that I have talked/emailed with in the past. Wish I had a chance to talk to so many others...

My first real road trip with the GT, 800 miles non-stop (almost) each way. NO TICKETS and @22 mpg. Amazing how ok I felt after each drive. 928s were made for such experiences
Someone gave us an idea on how to save on accomodations next year

What a super time! I am totally wiped out, which means it was a great time.
We had 5 cars from Michigan go down. We stayed in Alcoa, TN on Thursday night. We arrived around 6:30PM and immediatly hit the Tail of the Dragon. There was no traffic! What a spectacular run. I captured it on video, but have not transferred it over yet. I will post it as soon as I do.
Then at 8:30AM Friday morning we drove down to the Cherohala Skyway and proceeded to drive the next 7 and a half hours on the twisties all the way to Banner Elk. What a spectacular selection of roads! I was mostly in the lead, so I don't have many pics.
We arrived in Banner Elk around 4:30 PM and saw a lot of old friends and many new faces too.
Dave, Jeannie, and Thor were, as always, wonderful hosts. It is always wonderful to see them and hang out with them. Pam and her fiance Don were also very gracious and lovely.
I'll posts pics shortly.
