I'm seriously impressed!

You're going to work yourself out of a job...

I went from just changing carpet to full sound deadening and pulling all the interior out for a condition and dye job.
You know--it's a good lesson--if you're taking the time to change the carpets and any major interior undertakings-and you have the cash to spare (not too much I don't think) then it makes sense to take the time to further sound-deaden the car as you hopefully won't ever be redoing the interior again...

Mike, brilliant job! love it!
Many similar things, on my car, except i am using tech flex instead of braid, oil seperator, spal fans, waiting on Rogers EIS....! stereo nut as well.
I am doing a similar sound deadening fit out using Second Skin audio products, Damplifier pro, Sludge and overkill pro.
Hilton, one of the first things I did was paint some basic sound deadener [Motorart?] inside the rear wheel arch and yes it did make a small difference, as i only did the RH side to compare! The doors made the biggest change so far, now a bit heavier!
interesting test http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi

It is close, but no rubbing so far.
Is that the normal price for those rims that seems like a great deal.

Mike did you ever do the Dynamic Kickdown modification we talked about while you werer doing all the intake work?

I like what you have done - lots of work - I'm not really a big fan of the braided hose - but it certainly goes with your color scheme.

The rims I bought were used, although only slightly. They had tires on them before, but from the condition of the wheels, it was not long. I think they run about $150 per wheel new from Tire Rack. A few others on here have bought these new, so they probably know exactly what they cost.

Alan,
Today was actually the first day I have driven this car all year. I have been busy redoing a '85 928 for my nephew, so I have not had time for anything. I thought about this mod this morning on the way to work because the car was still kicking down alot, even though I loosened the bowden cable several months ago. I had the cable too tight and it would not shift into 4th under throttle, I would have to let off for it to shift. I did the mods per your instructions and have more pictures to send you. The clips you sent for the fuse panel were a real pain to install. I am not sure what the problem was. I think I have it done. To verify the kickdown is working, I am hoping (very soon) to swap the GTS relay out for my S4 relay to see if I can tell a difference with the kickdown. I am hoping it will be clear whether or not it is working or not. Do you know of another way of telling it is working properly? I have never driven a GTS, so I am not sure I would know the difference.

If you temporarily remove the wooden board in front of the CE panel, you will be able to hear the GTS kickdown relay click when it is engaged by the kickdown program under partial throttle.

borland, can this be done with just the key on in park or do you have to be driving/engine running?

Mike, The kickdown program requires the car's speed of at least 30mph for activation, so no. You can however test the full throttle kickdown switch with the ignition on, but engine off.

Wow! The engine and bay are fantastic! Where did you get the stainless steel hoses and oil cap?

Hoses are just braided covers that you would find at any Advance Auto or Autozone. These cover the original rubber hoses. They are not expensive, I got mine on clearance off the web. The oil cap was from another Rennlister "nicholbry". He only made a handful of a couple different configurations and I was lucky enough to get one. I think Roger at 928s R Us offers one that looks very similar.
