Default The 90 S4 is back on eBay

The GT in the listing title caught my eye but it's another GT with an automatic transmission. Then I noticed it looked familiar. Yep, it's my old girl back on eBay again. I bought it on eBay from a dealer in Fl. and sold it on eBay to a fella in Mo. and now it's listed on eBay by a dealer in Mo. It's kinda sad to see her getting passed around like this.
It's a decent car that ran well when I had it. It had it's quirks and needed some attention but not much. It looks like it's had some paintwork (or photoshop) because there were clearcoat issues when I had it that I don't see in the listing photos. Oh, and it's got some pretty blue wires now too. I hope she goes to a good home.

edit: The color is actually linen/linen, not silver/gray as listed in the auction.

ohhhh man.... I love that color combo, just like we had on our 1990 911 cab...
As we've discussed before Mike, I would of bought this car for the wifey, & really wanted it. But she was the same as your wife, wanted one that didn't need anything immediate, (in her determination), especially cosmetically. This car now & when you sold it is at a good price, BUT....

Three things needed attention fairly quickly(least if I bought it);
1) the clearcoat on the paint on the fender/hood & roof; maybe this has been done now.
2) the top of the driver's side seat is torn(3-4") in the 2-3" wide panel, not at the seam(perhaps dryrot of the leather due to sun damage & not an easy or cheap fix); and
3) it needs the TB/WP due to lack of prior knowledge of when it was last done. Can't remember either, was the air bag light on, or am I confusing it with another shark perhaps?

I couldn't talk the wife into getting it, then having these items taken care of. So instead of a good price on a great color combo shark, I had to pay more up front to get her a shark that didn't need any cosmetics or mechanicals so she could just get in & drive. Not to dis on the car cause I'd still buy this car in a heartbeat today if I could. But anyone here seriously looking needs to be aware of those three items of concern to be taken care of if they have not been by the guy who bought it from Mike. The ten spoke wheels you put on it look really sharp too Mike!

ahhh read the ebay ad.... duh... does have the air bag light & now the rear diff light too, don't think you were having that light on when you owned it Mike? The rear diff light by itself means the psd yes?? If its coming on along with the ABS light, then most likely just the wheel sensors(ask me how I know?)

Your buyer didn't drive the car much this past year either seeing the current milage, wasn't in the 102k range when you sold it last year?

Hi Mel,
I know you had been drooling over this one. I really like the color combo too which is the biggest reason I flew down your way and drove it home.

1.) The clearcoat was the biggest issue for me in deciding to sell it. I found the white ROW S4 after this one and really didn't want two 90 S4s so this one went on eBay. The pictures do not show the problems with the clearcoat and they would be clearly visible which is why I mentioned paintwork or photoshop. Any potential buyers need to check for themselves.

2.) It wasn't the drivers seat that was torn. It was the top of the rear seat on the passenger side. It was torn at the seam, I think at the location of the stitches. Not that the seam came apart, but the leather tore where it was sewn.

3.) I had the Porsche maintenance book for the car which had a dealer stamp for the 60,000 mile service which I think includes TB service. Maybe someone else can verify if a timing belt change was standard procedure for the scheduled 60,000 mile service. Either way, it had been quite a few years since it was done so I'm sure a TB change would be needed.

The wheels do look right on that car and they didn't have a scratch on them when I sold the car. Regarding your later post, I don't recall any rust behind the airbox. I see what you're talking about in the photo though. Anyone interested should definitely check it out. I will say that the body itself was flawless with not a ding or crack to be found.

Just to clarify for everyone, I have no current interest in this car other than the fact that it was mine not too long ago and I got to know it pretty well. It's the one in my signature pic. If you are interested and have any questions, send me a pm and I'll tell you what I can. If I didn't already have a 90 S4... well nevermind. The wife may read this someday.

yeah I meant to say the driver's side REAR seat, sorry bout that. And the tear might be "restitchable", I just seem to remember it was the leather itself that was torn, next to the stitching. Like you said, not sure if it could be restitched in that instance or not, but my memory of when I saw it was you'd have to stretch the leather a bit to restitch it the way the tear was. The 60k service might have had a TB/WP job, you'd think even with Porsche scheduled service it would of had at least one, with a second due at 90k, but either way you'd need to do that 1st thing I think. I'd still love to have it just for the color combo, but as Jeff shows on his car, clearcoat problems tend to escalate & require repainting, not just touching up or spot painting.

That's glue runs in that area. My 89 has it as well, seen better here with the weatherstrip removed.
