A/C Metric Fittings
I need some help.
I am replacing my compressor with a 80-86 model on my '78. And I am rebuilding the hoses.
I have bought used hoses, but I am having a problem with the suction hose.
The compressor suction side has a male M22x1.5 fitting, but the hose has a female M27x2 fitting.
The other side of the hose has a M22x1.5 which is fine.
The pipe is 15mm which equates to #12 hose.
I can only find the #12 beadlock hose with M27x2 fittings.
Does anyone have an old nippon denso compressor hose with a female M22x1.5 for the fitting that attaches to the compressor suction side?

Yep, you have run into the A/C hose weirdness. It's a #12 hose and the car side has a standard 90deg #12 beadlock, but the compressor side has a step-down 12/10 fitting (hose crimp end is #12 and fitting end is #10). Are you looking for an entire used hose assembly? You can buy those step-down fittings separately if you bother the A/C parts stores enough to go through their catalogs.

Yeah, it appears the compressor suction fitting is #12 hose with a #10 metric fitting (ie male M22x1.5). The car side is also #12 hose with a #10 metric fitting (ie male M22x1.5).
The used hose I bought has been upgraded with #12 barrier hose. The beadlock fittings are braised all to hell. I don't think these are reusable. The car side of the hose has a M22x1.5 female fitting (good). the problem is that the hose's compressor side has #12 hose with a M27x2 female fitting (bad). Oh an the fact that I don't think it is rebuildable.
What I think I need is:

Doesn't Summitracing have some hose that would deal with AC? Its a -12 AN size - but how would the fittings work needing to be metric?

the hose is fine, the pipe is fine. the problem is that the male threads on the compressor fitting is M22x1.5 and the female on the hose end is M27x2

I'm not aware that there are difference threads, metric vs. SAE. A #10 fitting should fit any #10 fitting of the opposite gender. When I rebuilt the suction hose on my '86, it was a little different than yours. It had #12 pipe on the car going to a 90 deg #12 fitting with #12 hose, and at the compressor the fitting was #12 hose to #10 custom female beadlock. What I did is I decided to use #10 hose instead, so for the compressor side I got a 45deg female #10/#10 and on the car side I got a 90 deg female #12 pipe to #10 hose. Now that I dug back into my A/C info, I see that I bought the fitting from acsource. I never had any problem with incompatible threads or anything like that. I doubt my 928 was SAE and yours is metric. Here is the fitting that will work for you:

In fact, if your car is #10 at the compressor and #10 pipe on the car, why on earth would there be a #12 hose inbetween? I would just use #10 hose and standard 10/10 fittings...

I actually got off the phone with the owner before I stated this thread.
The pipe is #12, the hose is #12, the fitting is M22x1.5. That fitting is standard on #10.

I have an AC hose that I bought - but I don't know which one you are talking about - how long is it? I don't get AC at all, so "suction" doesn't mean anything for determining the type.

It connects to a pipe just below and in front of the jump start terminal.
It runs through a 90 degree bend to hosing that makes it way to the a/c compressor via a snaking tube.
It connects to the a/c compressor at the fitting marked "S". German car, Japanese compressor, and it's "S" for suction!
The fittings at each end screw onto M22x1.5 thread.
I don't want to pay up for a new one cause I need barrier hose and the replacement hoses I expect 1) are not barrier and 2) expensive.
I'd like a crapped out cheap used one with good metal fittings one the ends so I can salvage and rebuild.
