Instead of disassembling the current engine to assemble the new engine, it may make more sense to buy another set of heads, build the engine and just straight swap. That way if you hit any snags, you aren't out of a racecar.

? time for Hacker to organize another fund raiser (two rebuilt heads) I'll donate the first $100
The Holbert engine has a history, kept intact it could be rebuilt for the car's final destination , the
Porsche museum

I know, and thats my biggest apprehension for doing this change.
#2 putting something other than the original engine in the Holbert machine
#3 Not allowing the miracle engine to show how long it really can be run before it fails.
#4 taking apart the Holbert engine, rather than leaving all the components in tact.
Now, with the 6.5 liter, i can say, "well, its bored and stroked and thats it"

Some porting-polishing of the heads with a hotter cam should gain quite a bit of HP.....one of Mikes custom Billet sets is the ideal (but pricey) solution)....
But why only 11.0CR....why not go higher for a race gas only engine?

Is it my imagination or are there no lock notches for the bearings in the crank end of the connecting rods? I have never seen a 928 engine up close and have never bothered to look at other pictures.
Can some one edumacate me?
