Default Mark Kibort's new motor - with picture goodness

Here you go

Before anyone asks, the rough finish on the ouside of the block is from the coating process and perfectly normal.

You will notice in the before and after pictures just how much prep work had to be done on the gasket mating surfaces when using this coating.

Mark, before you start final assembly Todd would like to speek with you. FYI he is also a bit concerned about using the stock oil cooler.

I warned todd to get that motor plug and play before Mark gets his hands on it.

Wow, that looks like a funky pattern on the pistons.

And Erik, shouldn't the numbers on the rods be written in German?

I had heard rumors Kibort was getting a new motor. Will he need to change the gearing to take advantage of the increased low rpm engine torque?

The electric ones?

Tim and I joked around about bolting a supercharger to the front of the motor for the pictures.

Be nice you guys, Mark doesn't know about the pictures being posted yet (he hasn't seen them either). And he is probably still in bed

Wow! I'm Speechless! It looks absolutely magnificent!

So, I'm glad you warned me about the surface. that Nicasil process does some weird stuff to the block.
It all looks so shiney. what about the cylinderwall surface? does it break in differently than a Alusil block? it almost looks like it was honed like an iron block, without the hash marks.

Interesting about the piston dish. I know they had to do this to make the compression ratio just below 11:1, but it almost seems as though the piston could just be set to fall below the deck level for the same effect.

Great job Erik on the photos! Those Road America pics brought back some great memories! I would love to go back.

After seeing the engine, i want to put it in right now, BEFORE the next race !!!! I guess Ill find a break in the schedule and try and get it in about mid season. I wont tell anyone either. Ill just show up!

Thanks again everyone on the 928 Rennlist for the support! you guys are amazing. Even you wisecrackers!

MK

PS Now, im going to call todd to see how much assembly lube to coat those scratchy cylinderwalls with.
Brendan, maybe you can assist here?
